How I Cultivated My Xinxing in Different Project Groups

July 10, 2024 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) In the early days of the persecution when the evil forces were arresting practitioners on a large scale, a fellow practitioner in our group also fell victim to the mass arrests and was sent to a forced labor camp.

Afterward, fellow practitioner Wang told me not to contact one of our local practitioners anymore: “She has loose lips and tells other practitioners what so and so is doing, or how so and so is keeping on, etc. If one of them gets arrested and gives you away under pressure, you will be in trouble.”

I felt a bit tense upon hearing her words, but I still disagreed with what she said, thinking: Dafa disciples are one body, and we need to cooperate with each other and be tolerant. If they have problems, we can remind them openly instead of talking behind their backs. If we stop contacting each other, wouldn’t it cause division among us? Then, how can we as Dafa disciples form one body?

So, I still contacted that fellow practitioner, but kindly reminded her to pay attention to cultivating speech. We would keep each other in check like this and ended up working together to validate the Fa without any issues.

Later, due to work and family reasons, I started working on a project alone. As I didn’t need to cooperate with others, I felt free and lighthearted, but at the same time, I developed a strong ego. If it weren’t for Master’s careful arrangement for me to join another project team, I would not have discovered this strong human attachment.

I felt a bit uncomfortable when I first joined the group, not knowing where I stood. So, I compared myself with others discreetly to figure out my position in the group, but soon I realized what I did was wrong: Isn’t this seeking fame for myself? Straight away, I let go of the attachment and warned myself: Don’t be tempted by human attachments. Let go of my ego and calm down. I must cooperate with others wholeheartedly to validate the Fa and save more people.

As I was new to the project, there were many things I didn’t know how to do, so I just followed what I was told and sought advice from others. On the surface, I gave the impression that I was humble and eager to learn, but my attachment to showing off was still a bit restless and it would surface to cause trouble from time to time. Thankfully, I was clearheaded enough to notice it and eliminated it as soon as I became aware of it.

After a while, the project leader assigned me a task, which I wasn’t very happy about at the time and didn’t want to do. It was not my specialty and was a bit troublesome. So I wrote a suggestion and emailed it to our mailbox, saying that I didn't want to do this task.

Soon afterwards I realized that I sent the email because I had an attachment to competitiveness and I wanted to confront the project leader. I also realized that the tone of my suggestion was very harsh, and it would cause conflicts if fellow practitioners read my email.

I regretted what I had done and opened the mailbox quickly. To my great relief, nobody had read my email yet, so I deleted it immediately. I calmed down and proceeded with the assignment step by step as I was told by the project leader. It wasn’t easy and it took me a few days, but I managed to finish it. Since then, I have learned a lot from fellow practitioners and have improved my technical skills as well.

Practitioners in this project are from varied age groups. Some are in their 30s or 40s, and some are in their 70s or even 80s. Each one is doing their part in the project, and the group has been working as one body for the last few years.

Apart from project work, the group also pays great attention to the heart-to-heart interactions among us. As soon as there is any emotional reaction, complaint, or resentment, we sit down to study the Fa together and share our understanding so that we can improve our xinxing together and work in harmony and unity.

For example, some practitioners are bold and fearless, and do things fast, while others are more cautious and a bit slow. When our cultivation state is not very good, we tend to look at things with human thoughts and notions. Those bold practitioners would complain that the cautious ones have an attachment to fear, and the cautious ones would say that the bold practitioners are not considerate of others and do not pay attention to safety. Practitioners with a bit more ego are unwilling to accept other people’s opinions, and those who like to find faults would complain and keep accusing others, and so on.

In short, everyone has things to do, and everyone has attachments to let go of through cultivation. When our cultivation state is good, our collective energy is very strong. Everyone is able to look inward in conflicts and to regard others as a mirror to reflect upon themselves. We search for our hidden human attachments when we feel hurt and are able to quickly rectify ourselves to resume harmony and unity.

For example, younger people tend to be a bit more impatient and would comment on the slow-tempered elderly from time to time, but the elderly are very tolerant and understanding, and they do not react at all. When the elderly have trouble with using the Internet, the younger ones would teach them step by step with great patience.

I feel that our group is a really good environment for cultivation. Everyone is very sincere and straightforward. We discuss problems with each other—not just about technical issues, but also about xinxing cultivation.

For a Dafa project to function well in an oppressive environment full of evil, it must meet two conditions: One is that we must persevere with saving people, and the other is that we must constantly cultivate our xinxing. The old forces are watching us all the time, looking for any loopholes they can use to harm us. It is therefore very important for us to pay attention to our xinxing cultivation. We are cultivating in the human world and we are bound to have human attachments and notions. We can see them in others, and we can also see them in ourselves. We always help each other in this group and, as a result, everyone’s xinxing has improved very quickly.

Our group has formed a general way of thinking, one revolving around harmony. We try to maintain a harmonious state in our hearts, return to harmony when problems crop up, find harmony when conflicts arise, and use harmony to resolve things when disputes spring up. Because in order to reach “harmony,” we have to put aside our own egos. If we insist upon our ego, we will never be harmonious. Even if we may seem “harmonious” on the surface, our hearts are not in sync. If we want to unite our hearts and work together as one body, we must give up our selfishness based on ego and assimilate to the Great Way.

In the process, we are still different individuals, but if everyone can live and work in harmony, accept each other, tolerate each other, and improve together, then miracles will occur in our projects to save sentient beings.

The above is only my personal understanding, please kindly point out if there is anything not in line with the Fa.
