(Minghui.org) A summer street fair in Astoria, New York, on June 30, 2024, attracted many visitors who enjoyed the local delicacies and shopped for unique craft items. At the Falun Dafa practitioners’ information booth, endless streams of visitors passing by wanted to learn more about Falun Dafa and the exercises.

A new petition was available to sign during the street fair. The petition asked people to support the Falun Gong Protection Act, H.R. 4132, which condemns the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), including its forced organ harvesting. The bill urges the CCP to immediately end the suppression of Falun Gong. It also urges the United States to impose sanctions on those who have participated in forced live organ harvesting. Examples of sanctions include freezing assets, prohibiting entrance to the United States, and financial penalties.

Many signed the petition after learning about the CCP’s persecution and said they supported Congress passing the bill.

A practitioner said to a couple from Poland and their daughter who stopped at the booth, “I know that Poland was once under a communist regime and the people had no freedom or human rights.” They nodded in agreement and signed the petition.

Lisa Ortiz and her daughter Taina Evans stopped and said they had see Falun Dafa informational poster boards and waist-drum performances in Flushing, New York. They said they felt the positive energy.

Lisa purchased a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Dafa, after learning more about the practice. A practitioner reminded her to take good care of Falun Dafa books. Taina was interested in Chinese characters and was told she could look up Chinese tutorial videos on GanJing World. Despite the incessant rain, Lisa and Taina seemed very happy as they left.

Alyssa Yeung, who has ties to Hong Kong, found the practitioners of Asian descent very welcoming. “I feel very comfortable around the booth and my heart is filled with joy and peace,” she said.

Her boyfriend, Chãns Briggs, liked a practitioner's cap that had “Falun Dafa” written on it.

Many people began to learn Falun Dafa’s five exercises and took informational materials with them.
