The next day, officers from the Development Zone Police Department arrested Mr. Fu and took him to the Lishi Police Department. They ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and a computer. The Santaizi Detention Center refused to accept him when he failed the physical examination. Mr. Fu returned home at 3 a.m.
Ms. Yao Shilan, a 75-year-old Tianjin resident, was released from the Tianjin Women’s Prison on March 9, 2024, after completing a five-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
Prior to her latest imprisonment, Ms. Yao was arrested nine times, resulting in two forced labor terms totaling three years and ten months, and a prior prison term of 3.5 years. During each detention, Ms. Yao was brutally tortured and was on the verge of death multiple times.
