(Minghui.org) The Tian Guo Marching Band was invited to perform during the Capital Region Interfaith Council (CRIC) festival held on June 9, 2024. Coming from Ottawa and Montreal, the band performed eight melodies including “Falun Dafa is good,” “The Sacred Song,” and “Triumphant Return.” Practitioners introduced Falun Dafa to attendees.

Many said the music performed by the Tian Guo Marching Band was filled with peace, warmth, and sacredness. They liked the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and were interested in learning more about Falun Dafa.

CRIC member Jodi Green organized the event and said the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances were excellent. Green explained she was a school band member throughout her college years, and that’s why marching, music, and band layout mean so much to her. She said the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance resonated with her and made her happy.

Green said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance connect people and can bring people peace. She said spiritual belief is important, as it guides us and gives us strength. She plans to invite Falun Dafa practitioners to participate in the event next year.
Salamis Al Kudir from Jordan was also impressed by the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances and said the music touched one’s heart and brought harmony. She is worried about persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and could feel the pain practitioners were suffering there.
Local resident Nicole came with her daughter. She said the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances are peaceful, elegant, and harmonious. She added this world needs more kindness; otherwise, people would be pulled apart further and further. Especially during the pandemic, any disease could separate people and even change their character, leading to psychological and emotional issues.
Nicole said the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music had a great message on the spiritual level. In particular, the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are important for her and communities. She hopes more people will come and learn.
Daniel Olana works at a hospital and he said hearing the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music made him feel relaxed and joyful. He said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are indispensable for our communities. This is because people need to care for each other – something given by the divine when mankind was created.
Janyce Elser-Ethier, Vice President of CRIC, thanked practitioners for sharing these values. She said Falun Dafa’s principles align well with the mission of the CRIC event.
She said it’s unfortunate that many people have lost faith in the divine. She was happy to provide an opportunity for people to feel they are cared for and they can start to pursue spiritual goals. This allows people to exchange ideas and makes our life better. Although people are from different backgrounds, they can help each other and enjoy peace.
Ashok Jain is a principal engineer from an IT firm. He said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are consistent with his faith.
He said many people are seeking secular desires and material possessions. But these cannot bring long-lasting happiness. Jain believes true peace comes from the spiritual level and is critical for a person’s well-being.
For example, successes in everyday society – wealth, high ranks, and material pleasure – all have their limitations. Although many people may enjoy material possessions in the United States or Canada, they may not be really happy. In contrast, Asian philosophy and faith systems can address these issues.
He said there is no freedom of belief in communist China. This is a sad situation. That is why it is important for Chinese people to abandon communism and embrace culture as well as faith systems.
