(Minghui.org) A resident of Chicheng County, Hebei Province, was harassed twice at home by the local authorities during the “Two Sessions” for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
The “Two Sessions” are the annual meetings of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC). This year the CPPCC began on March 4, 2024, and the NPC one day later. They both concluded on March 11. The communist regime has been known for intensifying its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners around sensitive dates, such as the “two sessions.”
Ms. Sun Guilan lives in Chengguan Town, Chicheng County. Two officers from the Chengguan Town Police Station, and three other unidentified people broke into her home on March 5, 2024 and said they were there to visit her.
One agent inspected a table calendar which had information about Falun Gong, and Ms. Sun asked him to put it back on the desk unless he wanted it as a gift. He put it down.
Another agent ordered Ms. Sun to tear off a wall decoration which had information about Falun Gong. She refused to comply because she had the right to decorate her own home in whatever way she liked.
The agent ordered her to go with them or sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. She again refused to comply and said she broke no in law in practicing Falun Gong. She urged the uninvited visitors to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Her son condemned them for harassing his elderly mother. They soon left.
Two officers from the Chicheng County Police Department came to harass Ms. Sun on the morning of March 8, 2024. They threatened to give her 10 days of detention if she refused to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. She warned them that they’d face consequences for persecuting law-abiding citizens like her. They claimed they were there to save her from getting into trouble. She reminded them that there was nothing wrong with following Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be a good person.
The two officers relented and left without getting her signature.
