Hebei Woman Arrested at Train Station for Carrying Falun Gong Books in Her Luggage

Dec. 6, 2024 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) A Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province resident was arrested on November 20, 2024 at the local train station, after the security personnel found Falun Gong books in her luggage.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Fu Hong was passing through the train ticket checking gate at around 7 a.m. on November 20, when a railway security guard stopped her to search her bag. Upon finding Falun Gong books and an electronic reader, he arrested her and notified the police.

Officers from the Yanshan Boulevard Police Station arrived at the train station at around 9 a.m. Without producing their police IDs or revealing their names, they took her home. They opened the door with the keys forcibly taken from her and raided the place, without a search warrant. Three portraits of the founder of Falun Gong and 5,000 yuan in cash were confiscated.

Four officers from the Xigang Road Police Station arrived at Ms. Fu’s home at around 11 a.m. None of them produced any identification. They took her to her other residence in the Heanli Residential Neighborhood. They also forcibly entered with her key and ransacked the place without proper documents. Two laptops, some Falun Gong books, and informational materials were confiscated. Neither of the two police groups who raided her two properties produced lists of confiscated items as required by law.

Ms. Fu was taken to the Xigang Road Police Station between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. for interrogation. She refused to answer any questions. The police took her to the Haigang Police Station at 4 p.m. and forcibly collected her biometrics. They then took her to the police hospital in early evening for a physical examination. She was found to have high blood pressure (167/108 mmHg) and a heart rate of 113. Despite her condition, the Qinhuangdao City Detention Center still admitted her.

Ms. Fu took up Falun Gong in 1998, after witnessing how her mother, Ms. Xu Huiying, recovered from various ailments from practicing Falun Gong. After the persecution started, Ms. Xu went to Beijing in late 1999 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested, escorted back to Qinhuangdao and detained for over ten days. Upon returning, she began to experience various physical conditions. Her fear further intensified when a former good friend of hers attempted to take her to a brainwashing center shortly after.

After Ms. Fu’s arrest in 2001, her parents gradually became withdrawn due to the fear of the persecution. Her father had a stroke and so did her mother. They passed away after being bedridden for two years. While still mourning her parents’ passing, Ms. Fu was arrested again in 2009 and held at a labor camp for 13 months.
