(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Chunhua, 69, from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, was sentenced to three and a half years on September 12, 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Liu Chunhua was distributing Falun Gong informational materials at a residential complex on May 10, 2024, when the security guard spotted her and reported her to the Daqing City Police Department, which then instructed the Longnan Police Branch to arrest her that day.

The Ranghulu District Procuratorate indicted Ms. Liu and forwarded her case to the Ranghulu District Court. It was recently learned that she was sentenced on September 12, 2024. Details of her indictment and trial remain to be investigated. She is still being held in the Daqing City Detention Center.

Prior to her latest sentencing, Ms. Liu previously served an 18 month prison term. She was arrested in February 2020 after being reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She was released on bail hours later, but was taken back into custody on August 21, 2020. The same Ranghulu District Court sentenced her to 1.5 years in 2021 and she was held at the Daqing City Detention Center.
