(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

9. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wei Shuyan Appeals a 3.5-Year Prison Sentence

1. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Liwen Sentenced

Ms. Zhang Liwen, 80, was tried in the Wanbailin District Court on March 18, 2024, and later sentenced to over three years in prison. Her admission to the local prison on October 25, 2024, was too much for her 83-year-old ailing husband, who passed away five days later.

2. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Mr. Chen Guangwu Detained

Mr. Chen Guangwu was arrested by Yanji City Police Department officers in early October 2024. He is being held at the Yanji City Detention Center.

3. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Face Trial

Mr. He Hongjun, Ms. Hu Xiuli, Ms. Fu Wenhui, Mr. Tian Pengfei of Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province, and Mr. Lan Qingzhong of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, will be tried in the Shuangta District Court in Chaoyang City at 9 a.m. on December 2, 2024.

4. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Shi Suhua Arrested

Shi Suhua of Haiyang Village, Zhuanghe City, gender unknown, was arrested by officers from the Chengguan Police Station on November 8, 2024. The officers went to Shi’s home again two days later and videotaped it.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Fu Rong Detained

Ms. Fu Rong, in her 60s, was reported for talking to college students about the persecution of Falun Gong on November 4, 2024. Several officers from Huayuan Road Police Station waited in front of her home on November 7 to arrest her, but she was taking care of her mother and wasn’t there. They went to her mother’s home the next day and arrested her there.

Officers ransacked her home on November 9 and took her to the Haidian District Lockup for a five-day administrative detention. She was released on November 13.

6. [Chenxi County, Hunan Province] Ms. Hu Zihua Tried

Ms. Hu Zihua was staying at her son’s home in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, to help take care of her grandchild. She was arrested at her son’s home by officers of the Doumen District Domestic Security Division on December 24, 2023. She has since been held in a local detention Center in Zhuhai.

She was tried in Zhuhai City’s Xiangzhou District Court on November 18, 2024.

7. [Yuncheng County, Shandong Province] Nine Practitioners Face Trial

The authorities in Yuncheng County, Heze City, Shandong Province, dispatched a large number of police officers to raid the homes of over 30 Falun Gong practitioners on July 10 and 11, 2024. Over ten were arrested and nine of them are now facing trial.

The nine practitioners—Mr. Zhang Pingxin, his wife Ms. Zhu Lingdian, Mr. Cui Jun, Ms. Chen Chengge, Ms. Xia Ruiying, Ms. Jia Suqin, Ms. Hou Yuchun, Ms. Fan Airong and Ms. Chen Fengjuan—were arrested on July 10, while studying the Falun Gong teachings together. The police ransacked their respective homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books, informational materials, computers, and printers.

The police extorted money from at least six of the practitioners. Ms. Xia was forced to pay 20,000 yuan; Ms. Hou, Mr. Cui, and Ms. Fan paid 30,000 yuan each; and Mr. Zhang and Ms. Zhu were forced to pay between 50,000 and 90,000 yuan. So far, only Ms. Fan received a full refund.

8. [Linxi County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Fengling and Ms. Xu Lina Detained

Ms. Wang Fengling, around 56, of Dantun Village and Ms. Xu Lina, 53, of Hexi Town were arrested and taken to the Jianzhuang Police Station on the afternoon of November 6, 2024, after someone reported them for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Xizhangdi Village. They were taken to the Linxi Detention Center on November 7 and released on November 17.

9. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Ms. Wei Shuyan Appeals a 3.5-Year Prison Sentence

Ms. Wei Shuyan, 61, was arrested at home by Weidu Domestic Security Division officers on June 29, 2024, and admitted to Xuchang City Detention Center. The Weidu District Court tried her virtually on October 16 and sentenced her to 3.5 years in prison. She has appealed the verdict.
