(Minghui.org) Two years ago, I saw an article in the court news section of Minghui.org about a local practitioner who sued the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau for illegally withholding her pension. The hearing was to be held in the near future. I was surprised because, for so many years, the reports on Minghui have mostly been about practitioners being taken to court for not renouncing their faith. This was the first time I read about a practitioner suing a government agency and that the case was filed in court and a public hearing would be held.
The day of the hearing, another practitioner and I went to the courthouse. We couldn’t find the address and asked for Master’s help. When we asked a man for directions, he said that he was heading that way and we could follow him. We arrived at the courthouse before the hearing began.
I noticed an empty seat in the front row and asked the woman sitting next to it if was taken. She said no and invited me to sit down. I asked if she was waiting for a hearing. She said yes and told me her name. She was the practitioner who was suing the Human Resource Bureau. I realized Master arranged for us to meet so we could help each other.
When the hearing started, I accompanied her into the courtroom as a member of her family. She hadn’t hired a lawyer. The defendant was the Bureau Chief, and he had a lawyer. While the practitioner and the defendant’s lawyer presented their arguments, I sent righteous thoughts to eliminate the negative factors in other dimensions. When the lawyer read the defense statement, which contained lies to defame Falun Dafa and twist the facts, I sent righteous thoughts focused on her. I did not want her to put herself in the wrong place in history and mislead and destroy the future of the audience. She soon began coughing and couldn’t speak. She was later fired for making too many mistakes in court.
The hearing lasted an hour, and the judgment was made for the defendant. The practitioner filed an appeal with the Intermediate Court, and her case was accepted and filed.
On the day of the appeal hearing in the Intermediate Court, I forgot to bring my identification card, which was required to enter the courthouse. In my mind, I asked the beings not to interfere with me, “I am here to assist Master in Fa-rectification and save sentient beings, which is a righteous thing to do. A Falun Dafa disciple is my identity, and all beings in the universe acknowledge it.” The guard called the judge, who sent a secretary to bring me to the courtroom as the plaintiff’s family member.
Again, the practitioner did not have a lawyer, but the Bureau Chief had hired a new lawyer. The practitioner said in her statement, “Former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin abused his power and persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners who practice Zhen, Shan, and Ren (Truth, Compassion, Forbearance). I sued him and asked the High Court to prosecute him and give people justice. Filing a lawsuit was within my legal right, but law enforcement retaliated against me. They forged evidence of a crime, and, as a result, I was imprisoned for three years. During that time, the Human Resources Bureau withheld my pension without notifying me. Their illegal action must stop. I demand that the Bureau return the withheld pension and offer me an official apology.”
As she spoke, everyone in the courtroom, including the judge, listened quietly, and I felt an atmosphere of compassion. The practitioner went on to describe her life. She was born with polio and grew up having to use a wheelchair and depend on others. After she began practicing Falun Dafa, her body was healed. She could walk, go shopping and do daily chores on her own. She said she is an example of how a righteous practice benefits her and society.
In the end, the judge asked if the practitioner and her defendant wanted to give their final statements. The practitioner read one of Master Li’s articles, “How Humankind Came To Be,” in a calm voice. After a few minutes, the judge interrupted her, “We understand what you are reading. Is there anything else you want to say?”
“I want you all to choose benevolence and have a good future,” the practitioner said.
The judge said, “Good, we all choose benevolence,” and adjourned the hearing.
The verdict was announced a month later, and the practitioner won her case. The Human Resources Bureau was ordered to return the withheld pension.
Being practitioners, we should change our notions and negate the persecution forced upon us.
