(Minghui.org) I’m in my 70s. Practicing Falun Dafa taught me that whenever I encounter something in my life, my first thought is to consider others first and be kind. My upright behavior helps me clarify the truth and validates Dafa.
We’ve had a lot of rain in our area this summer. The second day of a heavy downpour was accompanied by strong winds, and many people’s umbrellas were blown inside out by the wind. I was taking care of errands that day and came back by bus just in time for the downpour. When I got off the bus, I noticed people took shelter under the station’s canopy. Because of the heavy wind and rain, even those with umbrellas or standing under the canopy were wet. I noticed a woman without an umbrella. Because there were many people and it was very windy and rainy, she was trying to dodge people’s umbrellas to avoid getting soaked by the water dripping from them.
I thought, as a Dafa disciple, I must help her no matter how difficult the situation is. Master told us to cultivate “selflessness and altruism” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature,” Essentials For Further Advancement). I immediately called out to the woman and invited her to come stand under my umbrella. I asked where she lived, and she said she was in a building nearby.
I said, “Let me walk you home.” She said, “No, you’re much older than me. It’s raining heavily and the roads are slippery.” I said, “It’s fine. This rain isn’t going to stop, and you don’t have an umbrella. How will you get home?” When she asked if I needed to take the bus, I told her I also lived nearby. She thanked me and so we helped each other and began walking together.
I did my best to keep the umbrella over her, so I ended up getting soaked, and only my head was not drenched. Lightening occasionally flashed in the sky, and the wind made it hard to breathe. We waded through the water, step by step until we reached the building where she lived. The entrance had six or seven steps, but there was no ramp or handrails. I stayed with her until she was safely inside the building. She gratefully said, “Sister, thank you! I really met a good person today.” She said this several times in a row, and it was clear that she was genuinely moved.
I said, “You’re welcome. I practice Falun Dafa. Our Master teaches us to be good people. Please remember, ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ Don’t listen to the propaganda on TV, for there is not a word of truth there.” She replied, “I’ll remember. Please walk slowly and be careful!” I said, “Don’t worry. I have Master’s protection.” We said goodbye to each other.
I am deeply grateful to Dafa for giving me a healthy body and a kind heart, enabling me to consider others first in difficult situations. I’m also thankful to Master for arranging an opportunity for me to clarify the truth to this woman and demonstrate the goodness of Dafa through my actions. Thank you, Master!
This June I went to get a pedicure. The shop owner often listens to me clarify the truth and has already quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It was about 9 a.m. when the shop opened, and there were already several people waiting. I was second in line. Behind me was a woman in her 90s, being pushed in a wheelchair by her daughter-in-law. The pedicure starts with a foot soak and the entire pedicure takes an hour for each person. The daughter-in-law told the elderly woman that they would take a walk while we waited.
I quickly said, “Let her go ahead. She’s much older. I can wait a little longer.” The daughter-in-law thanked me, saying, “Mom, this lady is letting us go first. Please thank her!” I said, “No worries.” I was thinking of clarifying the truth to them, but before I could say anything, three more people entered, including a couple.
I never faced so many people to clarify the truth to at one time, and I felt a little uneasy. Fear arose in my heart, but I knew this was a good opportunity, so I silently asked Master for guidance. At that moment, the daughter-in-law suddenly said, “My mom is such a good person. She’s very kindhearted. Every time there’s a TV appeal for donations, she always donates a lot.”
I immediately understood Master was helping me. I seized the moment and said, “Do you see anyone who still takes the CCP seriously? Nowadays, small officials are corrupt, big officials are even more corrupt. Are any of them really concerned about the people? If donations were collected directly for disaster victims, that would be different. But now, the money is just given to corrupt officials, right?”
As soon as I finished speaking, the wife of the couple who had just entered said, “Right. Some people even quit the CCP these days.” When I heard that, I thought about how to talk about these sensitive topics, and I also knew this was the perfect opportunity to let go of my fear. I turned to the woman and said, “I’ve quit the CCP.” She responded, “I can tell from the way you speak.” I then told them about a popular song that ridicules corrupt CCP officials.
Everyone in the room laughed. The atmosphere became much lighter, and it was clear that they all agreed. I turned to the daughter-in-law and said, “The elderly are hard of hearing, and they are also disconnected from society. You should talk to her more about the current situation in the country. The CCP is so corrupt; people don’t need to donate.” After we chatted for a while, the elderly woman finished her treatment, and her daughter-in-law helped her leave.
After a while, the shop was left with just the shop owner and me, along with the couple. We continued our conversation. The woman asked me how old I was, and upon hearing that I was in my 70s, she said I looked so young, really young. Her husband asked me since I quit the CCP, if they gave me any trouble.
I said since you two have good faces and kind hearts, I will tell you something from the bottom of my heart. The CCP has threatened and intimidated me, and even threatened my family, but I practice Falun Dafa, and I have Master’s protection. The woman asked, “You practice Falun Dafa? I used to practice too, but when I saw the siege of Zhongnanhai (note: compound of the CCP’s leadership), I thought that must be political, so I stopped practicing.”
I said, “Sister, that was not a siege, it was a peaceful petition. Those people just sat there quietly, no marches or slogans. In Tianjin, dozens of practitioners were arrested, but they were all good people but were arrested for no reason. We’re all practicing the same teachings, and when Falun Dafa practitioners in Tianjin were arrested, shouldn’t those of us in Beijing speak up for them? How is that political? For example, if we are sisters and someone accuses you of murder, and I know you didn’t do it, should I just stay silent for my safety? Is that how a good person behaves?”
She immediately responded, “You’re right. But why should we quit the Party?” I said, “It’s because gods are going to eliminate the CCP! Since its founding, the Party has killed countless people. How many people died in its various movements? Let’s not even talk about the distant past—just look at the Tiananmen Square Massacre. We’re both from Beijing. Didn’t they open fire? How many people died? Tanks and armored vehicles rolled in, but the Party claimed they didn’t fire a single shot, and that no one died.
“Then look at the COVID pandemic: people were locked down everywhere, and didn’t even have basic medicine like fever reducers. How many people died from COVID? And then suddenly, they lifted the lockdown. How many more died? They report daily on the number of deaths in the U.S. but don’t report on the deaths in China. In the end, crematoriums couldn’t even keep up with the bodies. It’s a universal law that people who kill must pay with their lives. If an ordinary person kills, they have to be held accountable, so how can the ruling Party escape punishment for its mass killings? Gods wouldn’t allow that.
“We practice Falun Gong and follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the laws of the universe. We endure hardships without retaliation, never fighting back or responding to insults, putting others before ourselves. Practicing the exercises has miraculous effects on health improvement. Falun Gong is now practiced in over 100 countries, bringing benefits to both the nation and its people without any harm. But Jiang Zemin (former CCP president) and his group of political thugs started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, even going as far as harvesting organs from living practitioners. This persecution continues to this day.
“Now, gods are going to eliminate the Party. Everyone who has ever joined the CCP or its affiliated organizations has made a vow, raising their right hand and swearing to serve the CCP for life and even give their life for it. That is a poisonous oath! To protect ourselves, we need to declare that we’ve quit the CCP and all its organizations. That way, we can stay safe. If we don’t quit, we remain part of it, and when gods destroy the CCP, we will be its accomplices. Gods see people’s hearts, and as long as we withdraw from it in our hearts, we can be saved. Let me help you both by giving you pseudonyms for your withdrawals.”
They both understood and agreed to quit. The woman kept saying, “I understand, I understand.” She thanked me from the bottom of her heart and invited me to come visit her place.
By studying the Fa diligently, I understand that as a Dafa disciple, I have a great responsibility and mission. Through cultivating kindness in the Fa, I can bridge the gap with people and use different conversations to clarify the truth, allowing my righteous thoughts to lead the way. Master opened my wisdom, and through my words, I’m able to tell people the true nature of the CCP and how amazing Falun Dafa is. This couple has truly been saved. In this process of clarifying the truth, I let go of my fear and saved people at the same time. Thank you, Master, for the wonderful arrangements. I am deeply grateful!
