(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhang Yuexiang and Ms. Song Zonglan were scheduled to be tried by the Changqing District Court on September 30, 2024.
Ms. Xue Caiping, a native of Yantai City, Shandong Province, was arrested on March 24, 2021, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to a 3.5-year prison term in January 2022. At the Tangxia Detention Center, she was forced to drink a liquid which the doctor claimed was a “nutrient.” Months later, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had her uterus and ovaries removed. She was later released on medical parole. Her condition continued to deteriorate over time and she passed away on April 10, 2024. She was 49 years old.
Mr. Zhang Penghui was followed when he was driving home from Wuhan City, Hubei Province on the afternoon of September 26, 2024. More than ten plainclothes officers surrounded him right after he parked the car at home. They searched him and the car, then tried to enter his home. His wife, Ms. Peng Ling, locked the door from the inside, but the police forcibly pried it open. They spent over two hours searching around, confiscating over 2,000 yuan of cash that was imprinted with Falun Gong facts, USB drives, and information cards.
Mr. Liu Fushan from Huaibei Town in Huairou District, was arrested while on his way to a relative’s home on September 9, 2024. He has since been detained in Shunyi Detention Center. This was the second time that he was arrested this year.
Mr. Liu was arrested earlier in August 2024 for talking to people about Falun Gong. At that time, officers from Shunyi District and Huairou District ransacked his home and filled two vehicles with items confiscated from him. He was taken to the Shunyi Detention Center and was later released on bail.
Ms. Cao Jinfeng, in her 70s, was taken to the Shiling Police Station on the morning of September 17, 2024, after being reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was then taken to Longquanyi District Lockup, but was denied admission due to her age. She was released in the evening. The police later harassed her, saying that they weren’t yet done with her case, and threatened to take her to a brainwashing center.
Ms. Wang Hong and Ms. Li Wen were arrested on September 19, 2024, and their homes were ransacked.
Ms. Li Baihong, in her 70s and from Pinggu District, was reported to the police for talking to two young women about Falun Gong on the evening of August 25, 2024. The police ransacked her home on September 3, 2024, and confiscated a Falun Gong book. She was taken away for interrogation and placed under a 13-day administration detention. She was exempted from serving at the detention given her advanced age, and released in the evening.
Ms. Chang Shuzhen and Yang Guiru are both from Hucundian Village, Yali Town, Wei County, Handan City, Hebei Province. They were recorded by surveillance cameras while talking to people about Falun Gong in Yangshaoji Township, Qingfeng County, Henan Province on September 20, 2024.
More than ten officers from the Yangshaoji Township Police Station, Neihuang County Police Department, and Yali Town Police Station, ransacked their homes. Their Falun Gong books, computers, cash, and other personal belongings were confiscated. Yang was released the next day, and Ms. Chang remains in custody.
Ms. Ji Fenglan was arrested by officers from the Kuangshan Police Station on the morning of September 26, 2024, after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was placed under a 13-day detention, but was released in the evening after being deemed unfit for the detention.
