(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Wang Kezhen was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison on November 2, 2023. After she was admitted to the Anhui Province Women’s Prison, the authorities denied her family visits for the first six months. After that, her family was allowed to visit her every three months, much less frequently than the regular monthly visits for other inmates.
Ms. Zhao Yucai, Ms. Lu Xiuming, and Ms. Liu Yuling from the Decheng District were transferred from Dezhou City Detention Center to Shandong Province Women’s Prison. Details about their sentences aren’t clear.
Ms. Su Jingwen was arrested by Yuelu District Police Department officers on July 22, 2024, and has been held in the Changsha City Fourth Detention Center ever since. The prosecutor recently returned her case to the police, citing insufficient evidence.
Zhang Zhirong was arrested at home by plainclothes officers on September 26, 2024.
Ms. Ma Shuying was arrested at home by officers from the Wuyi Road Police Station in the Qiaodong District on September 2, 2024. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, laptop, cell phone, and ID card. She was taken to the police station for interrogation and released around 6 p.m.
Ms. Ma was arrested again and taken to the Wuyi Road Police Station on September 24, 2024.
Two officers from the Tuanjie Police Station pushed their way into Ms. Zhao Shuying’s home when she opened her door around 7 a.m. one morning. Without a search warrant or summons, they confiscated three Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. They gave her a 15-day detention, but she was denied admission by the detention center because of her high blood pressure.
Ms. Gao Fengxian, 67, was arrested at home by Shao Yuzhu and other officers from the Gaobeidian Police Department on September 12, 2024. They said they arrested her because she put up Falun Gong posters in 2020 and they didn’t open the case back then due to the pandemic. Ms. Gao was detained for seven days.
A Sartu District officer went to Ms. Zhao Xiuying’s home in early September 2024 and demanded to examine their home computer. The officer claimed that the police surveillance system had detected that an illegal file was sent out from their computer. Ms. Zhao demanded to know details about the file, but the police wouldn’t tell her. Not finding the file in the computer, the police took Ms. Zhao’s husband to the police station (their internet service was under his name) and forced him to sign a statement saying that Ms. Zhao has stopped practicing Falun Gong.
At least seven practitioners have been harassed by officers from the Pingdingbao Town Police Station and the Comprehensive Management Office in Guyuan County since September 20, 2024. Those people went to the practitioners’ homes in pairs, asked questions, looked around, and took photos of the practitioners. They claimed if the practitioners promised not to practice Falun Gong anymore, they would remove their names from the blacklist.
The harassed practitioners were Kang, Ji, Ren, Pei Yuhe, Zhang Fenglan, Feng Jianlan, and Fan Huaixian.
