(Minghui.org) Practitioners participated in a large-scale street market in Balboa Park to introduce the practice, raise awareness of the persecution in China, and collect signatures in support of Senate S. 4914 “Falun Gong Protection Act” on October 19 and 20, 2024. During the two-day event, they displayed twelve paintings from the Art of Zhen Shan Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance) International Exhibition that attracted a continuous number of people to stop at their booth and learn how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Gong.

Ty Jordan, who serves in the Canadian Navy, talked with practitioners for a long time and signed the petition after he viewed the art exhibition and learning the facts about the persecution on October 19.
Jordan said he looked into Buddhism and other religions, and was no stranger to spiritual practice. “To me, this (Falun Gong) is a spiritual practice and it’s very peaceful. I don’t understand why anyone would object to such a thing,” he said, “It’s crazy that they (the CCP) locks these people up. In my country, you’re free to practice whatever you want, and you definitely shouldn’t be locked up or have your organs harvested for it, and that’s one of the most evil things I’ve ever heard of.”
Wassem Abugosh, an engineer from New Jersey, passed by the art exhibition while touring Balboa Park and immediately signed the petition. He said, “I saw that sign soliciting signatures. I saw that it was about crimes against humanity, and as a humanitarian or someone who cares about the well-being of others, I will stop crimes against humanity in any country at all costs.”
After viewing the exhibition and talking with a practitioner, Abugosh said, “After learning more, I think I will do more research when I get home to see what else I can do to stop these anti-human acts. I hope this problem can be resolved in the near future.”
In addition to tourists, many locals also visited Balboa Park. A professor from a local university told practitioners that he had some knowledge about the CCP’s live organ harvesting and asked for a stack of flyers. He said he wanted his students to learn more about it.
Practitioners participated in a popular street market held in Escondido, about 20 miles north of San Diego, on October 20. There were more than 400 booths and 30,000 people attended the event according to the organizers. The Falun Gong booth was crowded with people who learned the facts and signed the petition.

Valerie Luper is a lawyer in San Diego County. She said she’s aware of the CCP’s crime of live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China and their efforts to expose the persecution.
“I signed to encourage Falun Dafa practitioners to persevere. I know this is a long-term project, and I’m sad that its taken so long. I hope they can succeed as soon as possible, the sooner the better. But at the same time, I really hope they can persevere.” Ms. Luper said.
“I want to add my name to this list. What the CCP does is evil. They hurt people for money. This is intolerable. No matter what regime it is, forced organ harvesting is intolerable,” she said.
