(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Six practitioners were tried by the Meixian District Court on September 29, 2024. They include Ms. Zeng Xiuqiong, 59, Ms. Zhang Taofeng, 47, Ms. Xie Guofen, 62, Ms. Li Lizhen, 64, Ms. Huang Shuzhen, 75, and Ms. Liu Meifen, 43. Four lawyers defended their innocence and demanded their acquittal.
Four more practitioners from Xingning City are scheduled to stand trial on October 18, 2024, by the same judicial panel.
Ms. Xu Xiulian, of Ganguantun Town, was sentenced to a one-year prison term by the Guan County Court in January 2024. Although she was allowed to serve time outside of prison, the authorities installed surveillance cameras at her home, which caused her to be unable to live a normal life. She suffered a mental collapse and became very weak.
Ms. Liu Binghuan and her younger brother Mr. Liu Binglei were arrested in late 2021. Ms. Liu was released on bail two days after her arrest. To avoid further persecution, she moved to Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, only to be arrested by officers in Yangshan County, Qingyuan City on September 29, 2024.
Mr. Liu rushed to Yangshan County on October 1, 2024, upon hearing about her arrest. He visited all local detention centers and police stations, but couldn’t find her. He received a call from both the Jinan police and his sister on October 3, and was asked to go to the Qingyuan City Third Hospital to process her discharge papers.
Mr. Liu noted that his sister appeared haggard and weak. She said she had been on a hunger strike since her arrest. The police put Ms. Liu under house arrest and threatened to go after her later on.
A practitioner surnamed Song was arrested by officers from the Wushan Police Station on September 9, 2024. The police ransacked the practitioner’s home and confiscated informational materials about Falun Gong.
Zhang Aiguo from Quyang County was arrested at home at noon on September 24, 2024, and detained for seven days. The police claimed that Zhang had been reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong a few years prior during the COVID-19 pandemic.
