(Minghui.org) It’s been recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, resident was arrested in mid-July 2023 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. Ms. Li Guimei has been held at the Sanjiang Detention Center since her arrest. Other details about her case aren’t clear.
Ms. Li, nearly 40, worked at the quality control department of Yonghong Machinery. She took up Falun Gong in 1995. When the persecution started four years later, she was fired by her workplace because she refused to renounce Falun Gong.
Ms. Li went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2002 and was given two years at the Guizhou Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp.
She was arrested again in 2004, when she tried to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to another practitioner’s husband. He reported her to the police, resulting in her being detained for 15 days.
Ms. Li later landed a job at a textile company in Wuyi County, Zhejiang Province. She was arrested by the police in Wuyi on November 12, 2008 and had her residence ransacked. She was given another two-year term at the Moganshan Forced Labor in Zhejiang. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and didn’t give in to the torture aimed to force her to renounce Falun Gong. While she was held in the labor camp, her father suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for over 40 days. He lost his vision from the medical episode.
Ms. Li later moved back to her hometown in Guiyang, only to be arrested again in 2023.
