(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Meng Qingxia and Ms. Liu Chunjie are scheduled to be tried in the Liaozhong District Court on September 11, 2023.
Ms. Liu Guifang, 58, is a doctor at the Baliyao Town Health Center, Qilihe District. She was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested on May 30, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, money imprinted with Falun Gong facts, and a laptop computer, etc. She was taken to the No. 1 Detention Center of Lanzhou City on June 9, 2023. Her case was submitted to the Chengguan District Procuratorate.
Mr. Gong Yubo from Shahe Township of Lianshan District was arrested at home on January 21, 2022. He was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Liaozhong District Court on May 18, 2023. Mr. Gong appealed to the Shenyang Intermediate Court but the original verdict was upheld in the second instance on August 1, 2023.
Mr. Liu Guofeng was arrested and taken to the Yuhua West Road Police Station on September 7, 2023 for distributing information about Falun Gong.
Ms. Xu Shucui was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong, and arrested on September 3, 2023. She was placed under 15-day detention and sent to a detention house.
Ms. Li Xiuzhen and a practitioner named Wang were arrested by officers from the Heng’an Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Fangzi Market on the morning of September 7, 2023.
Mr. Song Zhirong, 80, from Datong Town of Qijiang District, was arrested in March 2023 for distributing information about Falun Gong in a residential community. He was handcuffed to a metal chair for six hours in the police station.
Mr. Song has been harassed at his home by local police and community staff members several times since then, with the latest instance being on August 17, 2023. He was pressured to sign the “five statements.”
Cai from Ningjiang District was arrested by officers from the Jinghu Police Station in late August 2023. The police ransacked Cai’s home and confiscated a printer. Cai is being held in the Songyuan Detention House.
Ms. Li Shuang was arrested when she accompanied her father when he visited the Wanghongfei Clinic in Yichun City on the afternoon of September 6, 2023.
Ms. Wang Xiuli was arrested at home by three officers and a community staff member on September 4, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the police department for interrogation and was released that night.
Ms. Zeng Jialan from Hepu County was arrested at home on July 24, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth clarifying materials, computer, and other personal belongings. She was officially arrested on August 8, 2023 and is now being held in the No. 1 Detention Center of Beihai City.
Ms. Gu Jihong’s home in Putuo District was ransacked by local police officers and community staff members on the afternoon of September 5, 2023. Her Falun Gong books, computer, and other personal belongings were confiscated.
Ms. Zhao Li, in her 50s, was arrested by twelve police officers near her home when she was going to work on the morning of September 4, 2023, and her home was ransacked. They told her she was arrested because other practitioners came to her home the day before. Ms. Zhao was placed under 15-day detention.
Four practitioners including Ms. Wang Lihua were arrested at Yi’s home in the Jiangnan District on June 4, 2023. Ms. Wang was detained for one week.
Ms. Zhang Yuying lives in East Zhaojiaguan Village, Renzhao Town, Pingdu City. She was arrested after she left the corn field on the evening of September 6, 2023.
Three practitioners from Weibin District, including Ms. Cai Tongfang, Ms. Lin Xiaoyun, and Ms. Gao Hongmei, were reported to police by some students, for telling them about Falun Gong, and were arrested on May 10, 2023. They were held for 15 days in the Dongmen Detention Center in Chenchang District and were released on May 26, 2023. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated their Falun Gong books, informational materials about Falun Gong, money imprinted with Falun Gong information, and other personal belongings.
