(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Ms. Lang Dongyue Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison

Ms. Lang Dongyue from the Yanqing District in Beijing was arrested in Huilai County, Zhangjiakou City on December 14, 2021, and has been detained since then.

Ms. Lang was tried on March 8, 2023. It was learned in July 2023 that Ms. Lang was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the Xuanhua District Court in Zhangjiakou City and fined 15,000 yuan. Ms. Lan has appealed to the intermediate court.

2. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhou Hongliang Faces Trial

Mr. Zhou Hongliang will be tried in court on September 4, 2023.

3. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhang Shuguang Arrested and Detained

Mr. Zhang Shuguang, 64, was arrested at his home in the compound of the No.3 People’s Hospital of Jinan City at 8 a.m. on August 30, 2023. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his computer, three printers, and 20,000 yuan in cash. It’s not known where Mr. Zhang is detained.

4. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Xia Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Xia from Linshu County was arrested at her home on July 3, 2023. She is currently held in the Linyi City Detention Center.

5. [Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province] Practitioner Wu Arrested and Detained

Wu (gender unknown) was arrested in Ruichang City on August 18, 2023. Wu’s home was ransacked. The police confiscated the Falun Gong books, printer, and 20,000 yuan in cash and other personal belongings. Wu is currently held in the Jiujiang Detention Center.

6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Hongyun Arrested

Mr. Liu Hongyun from Acheng District was arrested on July 4, 2023. He was taken to the Acheng District Detention Center and was released on bail pending trial on July 9, 2023. He went on a hunger strike during his detention.

Mr. Liu was arrested again on August 22, 2023. He started a hunger strike. He was taken to the emergency room in the Acheng District Hospital on August 30, 2023.

7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] An Elderly Practitioner Is Arrested

An elderly female practitioner was arrested at home by officers from the Meiyuan Police Station on the morning of August 23, 2023. The police confiscated the Falun Gong books, media players, and other items. The detention center refused to admit the practitioner due to her health and she was released the next day.

8. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liao Shufen Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liao Shufen was followed and arrested around August 12, 2023, for distributing information about Falun Gong. She started a hunger strike and is now in critical condition.

9. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Han Yuntai Released After Being Detained for Three Years

Mr. Han Yuntai was arrested and later sentenced to three years in prison in 2020. He has been released and has returned home.

10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zheng Mei’e Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zheng Mei’e was arrested at her son’s home by four police officers in the Hanting District on August 3, 2023. She was taken to the Weifang City Detention but was released on August 16, 2023.

11. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zu Fengying Arrested

Ms. Zu Fengying from Guye District was arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong in the Guye Market on the morning of August 28, 2023.

12. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Yumin Arrested and Detained

Ms. Yang Yumin from Xiuyan County was arrested in early July 2023 for clarifying the truth via the Wechat App. Her cell phone was confiscated. She is detained in the Anshan City Detention Center. Her family is not allowed to visit her.

13. [Tuquan County, Inner Mongolia] Zhu Ying Harassed

Zhu Ying was harassed twice in August 2023, and more than 30 Falun Gong books were confiscated.

14. [Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province] Five Practitioners Harassed or Arrested

Ms. Zuo Yun’ai was harassed by officers from the Dagang Police Station in late June 2023. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, cell phone, and other belongings.

Ms. Ni Ping was harassed at home on July 11, 2023.

Ms. Dong, about 70, was harassed at home by officers from the Jinshan Police Station in mid-July 2023.

Zhang Chunhua from Jinkou District was arrested on April 24, 2023, and taken to the Zhenjiang City Detention Center.

Xu Guiming was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Baota Road Police Station in Runzhou District on the morning of June 23, 2023. Xu is still held in the Zhenjiang City Detention Center.
