(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Wang Min was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison and was taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in July 2023. Her husband Mr. Sun Xuebing was sentenced to two years in prison.
The couple was arrested by officers from the Yangjiadian Police Station in Erdao District on the evening of July 14, 2022. They were then taken to the Xinglongshan Detention Center.
Ms. Jiao Guichun was taken to the Jinan Women’s Prison on May 24, 2023. Her family has not been allowed to visit her.
Ms. Wang Ce was also taken to the Jinan Women’s Prison.
Ms. Shang Shurong was arrested at her home in Tongde Road, Chaoyang District on July 20, 2023. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was released later that day.
Several practitioners including Wei Deli, Qi Xiuhong, Cheng and an 88-year-old lady, were arrested by officers from the Dongfeng Police Station on July 20, 2023 when they were reading Zhaun Falun . The 88-year-old lady was released later that day but the other practitioners were detained for 10 days in the Weizigou Detention House.
Pang You was sentenced to one year and three months in prison.
Wang Weizhi was initially denied admission by the Baishan Detention Center after Wang was found to have tuberculosis during the physical exam. However, under the order of Shi Dengfeng, deputy of the Linjiang City Police Department, Wang was still taken to the detention center and was placed under 15-day detention. Wang started a hunger strike which lasted 10 days, and was released on bail pending trial on July 21, 2023.
Mr. Wang Hongliang, 73, was taken from home by officers from the Sang’a Town Police Station in Guan County on July 5, 2023. He was detained for more than 10 days in the Tianmayuan Detention House in Guan County.
Ms. Zhang Suying, in her 70s, was summoned to the Xining Police Station on July 14, 2023. Her cell phone was checked before she was allowed to leave.
Ms. Chen Lianfang was harassed at home by several people on the morning of July 18, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated two Falun Gong books, two media players, and 50 yuan in paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts. Ms. Chen was then taken to the police station. She was released around 4 p.m.
Xue Xiaoyu and Zhou Min were reported to police for talking to two college students about Falun Gong and were arrested by officers including Li Bin from the Hefeng Town Police Station on the morning of July 6, 2023. Their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly magazines, information about Falun Gong, photos of Falun Gong's founder, etc. The two practitioners were taken to the Deyang City Detention House and were detained for 10 days.
Liu Jinxiu was harassed at home by Zhu Haojie from the Tongyuanju Police Station in the Nan’an District at 5 p.m. on July 18, 2023. Liu was photographed and videotaped.
Ms. Dai Lijun was seen on surveillance cameras when she put information about Falun Gong on the cars parked by the roadside on April 10, 2023. She was arrested. She was placed under 3-month residential surveillance and was released later that day.
Ms. Dai was arrested on July 10, 2023 when the term was ended and was taken to a detention center.
Ms. Pan Heng was arrested by officers from the Xititou Police Station in Beichen District on the morning of July 18, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was placed under 30-day detention and was taken to the Beichen District Detention Center.
Mr. Wang Baolin was detained for two weeks.
Ms. Yang Xiumei was arrested in August 2022. Her lawyer did not defend her innocence, instead he advised her to plead guilty. Ms. Yang was eventually sentenced to three years in prison.
Several officers, led by the village official, went to the home of Mr. Zhu Yushu and his wife Ms. Han Yuqiu in Shizihe Village, Niutouya Town at 4 p.m. on July 20, 2023. These people searched the home and confiscated some personal belongings. The couple was later taken to the Niutouya Town Police Station where they were interrogated for two hours.
