(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Shi Jingshu Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Shi Jingshu, in her 30s, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison by the Chaoyang District Court. She is being held in the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center.

2. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sui Boqin Abused in Prison

Ms. Sui Boqin was admitted to the No. 3 Ward of Liaoning Women’s No. 2 Prison in early April 2023. She was recently brutally abused. The prison officials still would not allow her family members to visit her.

3. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhou Ling Held in Detention Center

Ms. Zhou Ling was arrested at home by officers from Jiulongpo District Police Department on April 21, 2023. Ms. Zhou was seen on video surveillance cameras using paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them.

Ms. Zhou is being held in the Huayan Detention Center, and her blood pressure is high. Detention center guards pressured her to sign a guarantee statement to not practice Falun Gong in exchange for her release. Ms. Zhou has refused to sign anything.

4. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Hongjun and Ms. Guo Xiuqing Tried

Mr. Liu Hongjun and Ms. Guo Xiuqing, who was just released from prison, were taken from their homes to the Shouguang Court by courthouse staff, then returned home after an hour-long video trial. The court wanted to fine them, but neither Mr. Liu nor Ms. Guo, who are in their 70s, have any income.

5. [Shihezi City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region] Mr. Wang Jianjun Missing

Mr. Wang Jianjun from Xinjiang was tortured in the No. 2 Brigade of Hewan Forced Labor Camp in Wuhan City, Hubei Province in 2001 when he was serving 12 or 18 months of forced labor. He was about 30 years old at the time. No one has heard from him since then.

Mr. Wang taught at Shihezi University in Xinjiang and later went to Wuhan to sell house paint. He wrote statements about Falun Gong on public walls in the Wuchang District in Wuhan City and was sentenced to forced labor.

6. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Rongying Arrested

Ms. Cao Rongying from the Dibang Residential Community was arrested around 4 a.m. on August 5, 2023.

7. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ren Guifen’s Home Ransacked

Two officers from the Shouguang City Domestic Security Division and three officers from the Jianqiao Police Station broke into Ms. Ren Guifen’s home on the morning of August 1, 2023. They ransacked it, videotaped the process, and confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

8. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Nie Jinchuan Held in Detention Center

Nie Jinchuan was arrested at home by officers from the Shou County Police Department prior to July 20, 2023. Nie was taken to Shou County Detention Center and has not yet been released.

9. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Hongjie Arrested

Ms. Wang Hongjie from Hongguang Farm was arrested by Songyuan City Domestic Security officers on August 1, 2023. Ms. Wang was monitored while surfing the Internet on a desktop computer. She is being held in the Shanyou Detention Center.

10. [Qichun County, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Meiyu Detained

Ms. Chen Meiyu was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials on the afternoon of July 8, 2023. She was arrested and was detained for 15 days. She returned home on July 23.

11. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Qin Guangzhi Arrested

Ms. Qin Guangzhi, about 59, from Panjiatun, Huangjin Village, Bajilei Town, was arrested on February 21, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She is being held in the Weizigou Detention Center.

12. [Shanghai] Ms. Chen Ping Arrested

Ms. Chen Ping from the Xuhui District was arrested by Longhua Police Station officers on July 22, 2023.

That night, the officers dragged Ms. Chen into the car and took her to have a medical exam. She refused to cooperate and stayed in the courtyard of the Longhua Police Station. She went on a hunger strike for three days and two nights and demanded to be released unconditionally.

13. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Dongcheng Police Station, Xicheng Police Station, the Domestic Security Division, and possibly those from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee coordinated the arrests of Mr. Leng Shunchang, Ms. Hu Zhuojun, and Ms. Peng Huayun around 11 p.m. on August 3, 2023. A computer and a printer in Mr. Leng’s home were confiscated.

14. [Chibi City, Province] Ms. Lei Shengping Arrested

After the deputy head of the Chibi City Domestic Security Division and others tricked Ms. Lei Shengping’s husband into opening the door with his key on August 3, 2023, they arrested Ms. Lei. They ransacked the couple’s home the following day and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Ms. Lei is being held in Chibi City Detention Center.

15. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Caiyun Arrested

Ms. Yu Caiyun, in her 70s, was arrested at home in Xitun Village, Gaoling Town, the Muping District, at the end of May 2023 by officers from the Gaoling Town Police Station. She was released the next day.

At 9 a.m. on July 20, Ms. Yu was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Gaoling farmers market when two officers arrested her again. She was released at 8 p.m. that evening. The officers confiscated from her home photos of the founder of Falun Gong, newly published lectures by Master Li, and six audio players.
