(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 60 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Gejiu City, Yunnan Province] Six Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

It was recently learned that six practitioners were sentenced to prison. Mr. Shen Shaoqing, 82, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. He is a retired teacher and was previously sentenced to seven years in prison. Mr. Wang Yuzhong who was previously sentenced to seven years in prison, was recently sentenced to four years in prison. Mr. Yang Wenjun was sentenced to four years; Ms. Li Yanzhu was sentenced to three years; Yao Hanlin was sentenced to three years; and Ms. Li Juhua was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

2. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Cui Rong was arrested by officers in the Baita District on December 7, 2021, when she visited the home of Mr. Zhao Juncheng and Ms. Bao Fengzhi, and was sent to the Liaoyang Detention Center. Ms. Cui was informed on March 25, 2023, that she was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. She appealed to the Liaoyang City Intermediate Court but the original verdict was upheld on June 7, 2023. Ms. Cui will be transferred to the Dabei Women’s Prison on August 1, 2023.

Mr. Zhao Juncheng was arrested on December 7, 2021. He was sentenced to two years in prison by the Dengta City Court. Ms. Bao Fengzhi was sentenced to one year and four months in prison, and Li Ying was sentenced to one year and six months. It is believed that Ms. Zhao Junlan was sentenced to three years in prison.

3. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Ten Practitioners Arrested

Seven practitioners were arrested around 5 p.m. on July 24, 2023. They are Ms. Sun Yuhua, Ms. Wang Wenqin, Sun Li, Mr. Wang Xuebin, Ms. Liu Shuhua, Ms. Lin Jinxiu, and Zang Yunchun. Three practitioners: Chen Xuefen, Ren Chengju, and Zhao Qinghua, were also arrested the next day. The police ransacked their homes. It was learned that the practitioners were detained in a brainwashing center.

4. [Chongqing] Mr. Kuang Xiaochun’s Home Ransacked

Mr. Kuang Xiaochun was at home when several people from the comprehensive management office and local community office knocked on his door at 9 p.m. on July 26, 2023. He did not open it. Eventually those people called the police and forcefully broke into Mr. Kuang's home around midnight. He managed to escape before they entered.

5. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Li Xiaoyan Arrested

Li Xiaoyan was about to take a train to Yushu City in Jilin Province on July 27, 2023 but was arrested at the Shijiazhuang Railway Station. His bag was searched and some paper bills imprinted with information about Falun Gong were found.

6. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ren Guizhi Persecuted

Ms. Ren Guizhi, 68, was reported to police for pasting stickers with information about Falun Gong in Longtou Village, Wandianzi Town, and was arrested by officers from the Wandianzi Town Police Station at 10 a.m. on July 24, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated the photo of Falun Gong's founder and an entire set of Falun Gong books. Ms. Ren was placed under 15-day detention and fined 1000 yuan.

When Ms. Ren was taken to the detention house, she was found to have high blood pressure and a heart condition during the physical exam. A female officer forced Ms. Ren to take two pills to lower her blood pressure and told her to take another pill thirty minutes later. Ms. Ren was then handed over to her family member who was called to the detention house to pick her up.

Her family member drove a car and took Ms. Ren back to Qingyuan Town, Qingyuan County. When they stopped and had a meal in a small restaurant, Ms. Ren suddenly collapsed. She was taken to the emergency room. Her blood pressure was as low as 50 to 90. She was hospitalized for days and was finally out of danger. But she is still dizzy and weak and can't think clearly.

7. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Three practitioners from Liquan County, Li Jing, Li Xianghong and Zhang Tao, have been detained for more than 10 months in the Qindu District Detention Center but have not been tried by the Qindu District Court. Judge Wang Zhihui refused to meet their lawyers or their family members.

8. [Beijing] Mr. Li Huiming Detained

Mr. Li Huiming from Tianshui City, Gansu Province, went to work in Beijing. He was arrested in Haidian District on July 21, 2023, and was detained in the Haidian District Detention Center.

9. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yuan Jinhua Arrested

Ms. Yuan Jinhua from Jiaoshou New Village was arrested at home by four officers in the Gucheng Sub-district on the morning of July 28, 2023. Her home was ransacked.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Case Against Li Yaying Submitted to the Procuratorate

The case against Li Yaying was submitted to the procuratorate.

11. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Yanmei and Ms. Jiang Ying Arrested

Ms. Liu Yanmei was arrested at home by officers including Zhang, a Linjiang City Domestic Security Division deputy, and some staff members from the local community at 11 a.m. on July 26, 2023. Her home was ransacked and all her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was taken to the Xinglong Police Station for interrogation and was released at 4 p.m.

Ms. Jiang Ying was also arrested at the same time. She was released in the afternoon.

12. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] The Case Against Ms. Tong Shurong Submitted to the Court

Ms. Tong Shurong, 79, from the Paoya Community, was reported to the police when she talked to some students about Falun Gong on October 17, 2021. Officers from the Yingchengzi Police Station repeatedly harassed her. She was placed under residential surveillance for six months and was later placed on bail pending trial for six months by the Ganjingzi District Procuratorate. Her case was submitted to the Ganjingzi District Court on May 15, 2023. Ms. Tong was then taken to the detention center but was denied admission due to the results of the physical exam. She was released.

13. [Qujing City, Yunnan Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Huang Xilan was arrested on July 10, 2023. Ms. Zhao Feiqiong and another female practitioner were also arrested at home. Their homes were ransacked. The two practitioners were released later. Ms. Li Hongmei and another practitioner Xu were arrested when they talked to people about Falun Gong.

14. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ni Guiyun Faces Trial

Ms. Ni Guiyun was arrested by officers from the Caigezhuang Police Station on September 9, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Her case was submitted to the Funing District Court on May 31, 2023. She will be tried in court at 9 a.m. on July 28, 2023.

15. [Heze City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Five practitioners from Shan County, all over 60, were arrested on July 15 or 16, 2023. They are Ms. Meng Fanxiu, Ms. Wang Yihua, Ms. Wang Yihua’s sister, Ms. Meng Xianchun, and Mr. Fang Li. Their homes were ransacked and their Falun Gong books were confiscated.

Ms. Meng Xianchun was denied admission by the detention center and was released the next day. The other three female practitioners are detained in the Heze City Detention Center. Mr. Fang Li is detained in the Shan County Detention Center.

16. [Foshan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. He Xiaohua Faces Trial

Ms. He Xiaohua from Chancheng District has been detained for more than six months. She will be tried in court on July 28, 2023.

17. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Liu Qing Persecuted in Prison

Liu Qing is incarcerated in the No.2 Prison of Jilin Province. Liu seems to have suffered a mental collapse and is bedridden. It was learned that Liu will be transferred to the disabled ward and will be watched by four inmates.

18. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Cuiqing and Mr. Yuan Chongqi Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Cuiqing and her husband Mr. Yuan Chongqi from Nanlongwanzhuang Village were arrested by officers from the Liquanzhuang Police Station on July 27, 2023, and have been detained.

19. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Sun Tao Arrested

Ms. Sun Tao and her daughter went to Chengde City to visit their relatives and were arrested at the train station on July 28, 2023, for carrying “sensitive” items.

20. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Geng Fuxia Arrested

Ms. Geng Fuxia was arrested at home on June 16, 2023.

21. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Seven Practitioners Persecuted

Three practitioners Qin Dongmei, Ma Fang and Zheng Fengxiang, were released. Four practitioners Cong Shunli, Xia Guihua, Yue Xiaohong and Fu Guiyuan, were released on bail pending trial. Numerous practitioners are still held in detention centers.

22. [Xinmin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wu Junde and Liu Bo Arrested and Detained

Mr. Wu Junde, Liu Bo, and several other practitioners were arrested and are held in the Xinmin City Detention Center.

23. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Dezhen Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Wang Dezhen from Liuguanying Village of Jiuzhou Township, was arrested by officers from the Chengdong Police Station in Gu’an County for distributing information about Falun Gong in a Gu’an County market. His car was confiscated. He was detained on June 16, 2022, and was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Bazhou Court on February 8, 2023. He appealed and the original verdict was upheld by the Langfang City Intermediate Court. Mr. Wang is now held in the Gu’an County Detention Center.

24. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhu Jingrong Persecuted

Ms. Zhu Jingrong from the Beipei District was arrested on June 7, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The detention center refused to admit her due to her high blood pressure.

Ms. Zhu was taken to the Caijia Police Station in the Beipei District on July 18, 2023, and was interrogated. Her home was ransacked and her Falun Gong books and some paper bills were confiscated. Ms. Zhu did not cooperate and was released later.
