(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Wang Qiaofang, in her 70s, was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in early 2023 and was released on bail pending trial. She will be tried in the Jianxi District Court at 3 p.m. on July 6, 2023.
Three practitioners were arrested by officers from the Xiakou Town Police Station in Fucheng County on the morning of July 5, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Wanghai Farmers Market. They are Ms. Zhu Suzhen, 69, from Wangji Town, Ms. Wang Yun, 62, from Anzhuan of Xiakou Town, and Ms. Han Fuyu, 56, from Xiaosuzhuang of Wangwu Town.
Officers from the Xiakou Town Police Station and the Wangji Police Station went to Ms. Zhu Suzhen’s home on the morning of July 5, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated a printer, two computers, several USB drivers and media players, multiple Falun Gong books, and three bags of informational materials about Falun Gong. Her non-practitioner family member was taken to the police station and interrogated.
Officers from the Xiakou Town Police Station and the Wangwu Town Police Station went to Ms. Han Fuyu’s home on the morning of July 5, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth clarifying materials, and a media player.
Dong Yuze (gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Zhenlai County Police Department on July 3, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Dong was sent to the Baicheng City Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Pingyu from Bannan District, a retiree from the Dajiang Factory, has not been heard from since January 2022. She was recently seen in the Banan District Detention Center.
Ms. Zhu Airong, 72, was arrested by officers from the Xindian Police Station in the Linzi District on April 28, 2023. She was taken to the Zibo City Detention Center. Ms. Zhu was tried by the Zichuan District Court on June 21, 2023, and sentenced to three years in prison with four years of probation on June 29, 2023. She was released on June 30, 2023.
Ms. Deng Yunhong was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on WeChat and was arrested by officers from Bianjiayuan Town of Feicheng City in Shandong Province in April 2023. She was released on bail pending trial.
Ms. Deng was arrested again at the railway station in Beijing on May 18, 2023, when she was about to take a train to Shenyang City with her daughter.
Mr. Wang Zhiwen was taken to the Shulan City Procuratorate by officers from the Hebei Police Station in mid-June 2023. He was taken to the Shulan City Court a week ago and was released on bail pending trial.
Mr. Li Chunsheng was arrested at home at the end of June 2023 but was later released.
Mr. Liu Laisheng was arrested at home in Songjiang Town by officers from Baicheng City a few days ago. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books. Mr. Liu is currently detained in Baicheng City.
Ms. Jiang Xuemei was arrested around June 22, 2023.
Ms. Yan Ruyu, 74, is retired from the Honglin Machinery Factory of Guihang Group in the Xiaohe District. Twelve officers from the Huanghe Road Police Station and the Xiaohe District Police Department went to her home on the afternoon of June 2, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated over 40 Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong's founder, 4 MP3 players, 5 memory cards, a laptop, and 900 yuan in cash.
Ms. Yan was harassed at home again by five people from the local community office and the Huanghe Road Police Station on the morning of June 12, 2023. She was pressured to sign the three statements (to stop practicing Falun Gong) but she refused. They videotaped her before they left.
Ms. Yan received a harassing call from the local community office on the morning of July 3, 2023, summoning her to the office. She refused.
Three people from the local community and local police station went to her home on July 5, 2023, and pressured her to sign some documents which she refused.
Ms. Liu Qunhua, 76, from Chengguan Town was arrested by officers from the Zhuhe Town Police Station in late 2022 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was bailed out by her son-in-law and was released on bail pending trial.
Ms. Liu’s son-in-law constantly received harassing calls from the police and was threatened with losing his job if his mother-in-law refused to sign the guarantee statement. Ms. Liu’s son and daughter were also harassed and threatened with losing their jobs because of their mother. Ms. Liu felt she had no choice, so she wrote a statement to sever the relationship with her children.
Ms. Liu was summoned to the procuratorate on February 20, 2023, and was arrested. She has been held in the Jianli Detention Center for over four months.
Several officers from the Sihe Town Police Station went to Ms. Jiao Shufang’s home on the afternoon of July 4, 2023. When Ms. Jiao refused to cooperate, they took her away. She was placed under five-day detention but was released in the evening due to high blood pressure.
Li Jing (gender unknown) was arrested and detained for 14 days.
Li Baohui (gender unknown) lives in Tubao Village, Zhong’an Town. Li was arrested at home around July 1, 2023. Li’s home was ransacked.
Ms. Xiao Zhimei was detained for 15 days.
Mr. Du He was arrested at home by several plainclothes officers around 7:30 a.m. on July 5, 2023. The police ransacked his home and confiscated all his Falun Gong books, media player, and the photo of Falun Gong’s founder.
Ms. Jie Caiyun was arrested when she distributed information about Falun Gong on the evening of June 29, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her computer and truth-clarifying materials. Ms. Jie was taken to the Fuxin City Detention Center on July 1, 2023.
Ms. Cang Fengying was arrested on July 5, 2023. A group of officers spent many hours ransacking her home that day.
