(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Li Caixia, Mr. Sun Shiwei, and Ms. Zhang Ling were tried at the Shushan District Court on the morning of June 2, 2023. Of the three practitioners, Ms. Li was tried via a video link. They were arrested between the evening of November 2 and the morning of November 3 in 2021. Mr. Sun and Ms. Zhang were released on bail, but Ms. Li remains in custody.
Ms. Xu Xiaoqin from Yongchuan District was taken to the No. 1 Ward of the Chongqing Women’s Prison on June 7, 2023.
Officers from the Jiangjin District Domestic Security Division and the Degan Police Station and Xiangtang Community Management Office personnel ransacked the home of Mr. Kuang Xinrong and his wife Ms. Huang Daifang when no one was there on April 24, 2023. They confiscated more than twelve amulets and paper bills containing information about Falun Gong. They later arrested the couple. Their cases were turned over to the Jiulongpo District Procuratorate.
Officers from the Fuyu City Domestic Security Division and the Sanjingzi Town Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Liu Bao and his wife Ms. Chen Yumei and arrested the couple on June 10, 2023. They confiscated 1,000 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them, Falun Gong informational stickers, and two cell phones. Ms. Chen has returned home. Mr. Liu was detained for 15 days.
Mr. Wang from Jubaoshan Town, Changling County, was arrested at home by officers from the Changling County Domestic Security Division, the head of Jubaoshan Town government, and officers from the town police station on June 16, 2023. The officers confiscated a computer and an audio player, among other items.
Officers from the Huaying Police Station and staff from the Huaying Community Management Office called Ms. He Fuzhen and Ms. Xu Yuanju and photographed them, which caused the two practitioners’ family members to panic.
Ms. Sheng Jin, an obstetrician, and gynecologist at the Junan County Hospital, was seeing her patients on the morning of June 14, 2023, when two officers from the Chengdong Police Station came to her office to harass her. An officer took out two pieces of paper with the names of Falun Gong practitioners written on them and asked Ms. Sheng if she still practiced Falun Gong. Another officer took out his cell phone and photographed and took videos of her.
Both Ms. Sheng and her husband hold important positions in the hospital. For the past four years, she has been harassed or otherwise persecuted by officers from the Chengdong Police Station.
Mr. Chen Jiaqing from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, went to Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region for sightseeing. On June 11, 2023, when he stayed in a hotel, he was questioned and arrested after Falun Gong content was found in his cell phone. His home was ransacked and he remains in custody in Xinjiang.
Ms. Xu Xia was arrested by Domestic Security officers on February 26, 2023. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a cell phone, two MP3 players, and some printed materials. The officers took her to a detention center out of town for 15 days of detention.
Ms. Zhang Xiaojuan from Huimin Elementary School was arrested on June 12, 2023, and her whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Zhang Xingqi’s daughter took her family to Xiamen City, Guangdong Province, for a trip on June 14, 2023. She was searched at the entrance for passengers with tickets at the Xiangtan Railway Station. She was taken to the police office, where her luggage was examined. Ms. Zhang’s daughter does not practice Falun Gong. She was not released until the officers searched all her luggage and found nothing.
Ms. Duan Zhenwei, 73, from Dadukou District was reported to the police for posting Falun Gong materials in Qixinggang Sub-district, Yuzhong District, on June 1, 2023. The officers ransacked her home on June 2, and confiscated printed materials, a USB drive, and two printers. Ms. Duan is being held in the Yinglong Detention Center in Nan’an District.
The case against 25-year-old Mr. Sun Yushan was brought to Liuyang City Court on June 7, 2022. On February 15, 2023, he was tried and sentenced to three years and three months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Mr. Sun appealed, and the Changsha City Intermediate Court upheld the original sentence. He was taken to the No. 13 Ward in Wangling Prison on May 29.
Recently, due to the reorganization of prison wards, Mr. Sun was relocated from the No. 13 Ward to the No. 12 Ward in Wangling Prison.
Seven or eight officers from the Tushan Police Station in Nan’an District knocked on the door of Ms. Tian Hong’s home at 11:20 p.m. on June 2, 2023. Ms. Tian, 47, was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in the Nan’an District. They wanted Ms. Tian to go with them. She refused. They handcuffed her and dragged her away. Several officers ransacked her home but did not find anything they wanted.
Ms. Tian was taken to a “case handling center” for interrogation for a day. She was handcuffed behind her back, seated in an iron chair, and all her biometrics and health information were collected.
Around 10 p.m. on June 3, Ms. Tian was taken to the Nan’an District Detention Center, where she was held for 14 days. She returned home on the morning of June 17.
At noon on June 6, 2023, a group of police officers broke into Ms. Fang Xia’s home. She is around 60 years old. They arrested her claiming that she was seen distributing Falun Gong materials. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and audio players, among other personal items. It is not clear where she is being held.
