(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 32 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zheng Wei, 59, was arrested by officers from the Jiangnan Police Station in the Fengman District while she was distributing Falun Gong materials on the afternoon of August 18, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was released on bail. The officers harassed her several times, pressured her to sign paperwork, and photographed her.
On March 29, 2023, the officers harassed Ms. Zheng again and told her to sign a summons and a transcript of questions in preparation for prosecuting her. On May 30, the procuratorate summoned Ms. Zheng. She did. No one has or heard from her since. She may have been arrested and held in a detention center.
Ms. Fu Zhaocui, a former head nurse at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Hailin City, was arrested by officers from the Hailin City Domestic Security Division and people from the Hailin City Court around 7 a.m. on June 5, 2023.
Ms. Fu was previously sentenced to prison twice, taken to a forced labor camp once, and was repeatedly arrested and harassed.
In 2022, Ms. Fu was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Due to her health, instead of being imprisoned Ms. Fu was placed under residential surveillance. Now she has been arrested again.
Mr. Dou Hexin was arrested by Shuiquliu Police Station officers while he was at work and driving a vehicle. He is being held in the Huancheng Police Station.
The homes of Ms. Cheng Shurong and Yang Liujin were ransacked by officers from the Rong County State Security Division, the Rong County Police Department, the Liujia Town Police Station, and the Changshan Town Police Station on the afternoon of May 24, 2023.
On the afternoon of May 24, the officers took Ms. Zhu Yuying’s keys, entered her home while she was not there, ransacked it and the store front, and took 1,800 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them from her store.
Ms. Zhu and Ms. Cheng were released the following night. Yang is being held in Rong County Detention Center.
Staff from the Tonghua City Detention Center called Ms. Yan Shufang’s family on May 13, 2023, and told them to meet her in the detention center.
The family met her at the detention center on May 14. On May 15, Ms. Yan was taken to Changchun Women’s Prison.
Someone knocked on the door of Ms. Fu Xinhua’s home on May 26, 2023. When she opened it, about six or seven officers, two of them in uniform, swarmed in. They ransacked the place and confiscated many personal items. They took Ms. Fu to the police station and then to the Langfang City Detention Center.
Mr. Yang Jianlu from the Xuanhua District was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. Mr. Yang’s family has appealed to the Zhangjiakou City Intermediate Court.
Wang Guiping was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.
Guo Shijie (gender unknown) will be tried in the Anping County Court on June 7, 2023.
When Ms. Wang Guilan was talking to people about Falun Gong in May 2023, she was photographed by someone with a cell phone. The next day, several officers came to her home and harassed her. Ms. Wang recently left home to avoid being persecuted.
Mr. Liu Quan is being held in the Pidu District Detention Center.
Ms. Li Jinru’s non-practitioner husband Mr. Gao Lu was held in a detention center for over 30 days for helping his wife pick up a courier package. His blood pressure was normal before he was incarcerated. After returning home from the detention center, his blood pressure and blood sugar were on the high end. His poor eyesight resulting from a previous stroke has become increasingly blurry.
The director of the Xuanpingbao Township Police Station in the Wanquan District and two other officers knocked on the door of Ms. Ma Feiqin’s home in Dibatan Village at 11 p.m. on May 14, 2023. Ms. Ma was sleeping. After the three men entered her house, two ransacked the place. The director spoke to Ms. Ma and recorded the conversation.
They confiscated a large number of Falun Gong books, a photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and pictures with the characters “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on them.
Ms. Duan Zhenwei, in her 70s, was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in the Qixinggang Sub-district, Yuzhong District, on June 3, 2023. She was arrested. Further details are not available.
On the afternoon of June 4, Mr. Jiang Fuyong from the Fengcheng Sub-district was arrested by officers from the Fenghuang Police Department. Further information is pending.
In mid-April 2023, officers from the Houbu Street Police Station went to Mr. Yang Tingxian’s home and tried to take him to a detention center. The officers brought a pair of handcuffs with them and tried to put them on him. Mr. Yang firmly refused to cooperate and refused to go to the detention center. Mr. Yang’s prison term will end in seven months.
On March 9, officers from the Fenghuang Street Police Station arrested Ms. Wu Chunmei when she used paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them when she bought vegetables at a food market. The officers ransacked her home that day and confiscated over 40 Falun Gong books. The officers took her to a detention center twice that evening. The detention center refused to admit her due to her high blood pressure. Ms. Wu was released after midnight that night.
In late April, Fenghuang Street Police Station officers arrested Ms. Lai Huanping for using paper bills with Falun Gong facts printed on them. The officers tried several times to lock her up in the detention center. The detention center refused to admit her due to her high blood pressure and the after-effects of a stroke. She was released very late that night.
Xu Yunlan was tried in the Ganjingzi District Court at 9 a.m. on April 12, 2023. The trial ended hastily, without a verdict.
On the morning of May 30, officers from the Nansha Police Station took Xu directly to the court for the verdict. Xu was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. There was a 10-day appeal period. Xu refused to accept the judgment and is appealing the sentence.
Mr. Hu Yuanqin will be tried at 9 a.m. on June 6, 2023, in the Yuhua District Court. Ms. Zhu Defeng will be tried on June 8 in the same court. Further details are not yet available.
Ms. Wang Lei from the Fangshan District was arrested in 2014 by officers from the Fangshan District Police Department. She was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Fangshan District Court and was held in the No. 1 Women’s Prison in Inner Mongolia for eight years.
She refused to plead guilty or be “transformed” and was brutally persecuted until she lost vision in both her eyes. The prison refused to release her. A hospital diagnosis has confirmed that she suffers severe blindness in both eyes. Now Ms. Wang lives by herself with no one to help her.
Ms. Guo Shufen, 67, was sentenced to two years and three months in prison by the Linghai City Court. Starting in May 2023, Ms. Guo’s pension has been suspended by the Jinzhou Social Security Department. She is currently held in the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.
On February 14 2023, officers from the Yaojia Police Station in the Lixia District called Mr. Yang Yong and ordered him to the police station. Mr. Yang was told that he would be detained. He was able to leave after he said he needed to drive a vehicle out of town as part of his job. Mr. Yang left Jinan and found a job in Rizhao City. On March 7, he returned to Jinan in his colleague’s car. At the expressway exit, he was again arrested. He was then taken to the Jinan Detention Center by officers from the Yaojia Police Station. Afterwards, he was officially placed under arrest by the Lixia District Procuratorate. His case has been transferred to Tianqiao District Procuratorate.
Ms. Fu Kui was recently arrested, exactly when is not clear. Ms. Fu is being held in a detention center and has been officially placed under arrest by the procuratorate.
Ms. Chi Yujuan is being held in the Linqing City Detention Center.
Ms. Qiao Shuxiang was harassed repeatedly and left home to avoid further persecution.
Mr. Liu Changjin, in his 60s, was arrested at his home in the Wenchangli Residential Community by officers from the Development Zone Domestic Security Division, who arrived in a police vehicle, on the afternoon of May 26, 2023. Two or three officers ransacked his home and confiscated a computer, a printer, Falun Gong books, and printed materials. Mr. Liu is being held in the Qinhuangdao City No. 1 Detention Center.
Ms. Yu Mei and Ms. Wu Shaochuan were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong on May 14, 2023. They were arrested by officers from the Cunjin Police Station in the Chikan District and held in the Dongpoling Detention Center for 15 days.
After Ms. Yu was released from the detention center, the officers took her to her home and ransacked the place. They did not find anything they were looking for. Both practitioners have now returned home.
Ms. Guo Xiuying endured electric shocks and other types of torture for three days in a detention center.
