(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 23 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 57 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Liu Yanxue from Chengzi Town was arrested by officers from the Chaisang District Police Department on December 25, 2021. She was tried three times and has now been sentenced to four years in prison.
Elderly Ms. Liang Shuzhi from Heping District was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Liaozhong District Court. She appealed to the Shenyang City Intermediate Court. The judge in charge of her appeal is Yu Xiaowei.
Ms. Hu Ping and Ms. Liu Suying from Yu County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, told people about and distributed information about Falun Gong in Xiyixing Village, Guangling County, Datong City, Shanxi Province, on August 10, 2022. They were reported to the police by a villager. They were arrested and taken to the Xiyixing Police Station by the Guangling County police. That evening both practitioners were taken to Guangling County Police Department. Chief Zhang hit Ms. Hu on the head several times, and two officers repeatedly slapped her face. The officers ransacked Ms. Hu’s home and confiscated five paintings, two USB drives which were in her bag, and a memory card reader.
On August 12, the officers took Ms. Hu and Ms. Liu to quarantine for 14 days, and then took them to Chenzhuang Detention Center in Datong City. Both practitioners were pressured to write three statements, and they were held in custody for seven months and twelve days.
Ms. Liu was later sentenced to eleven months in prison. Ms. Hu was released by the Yungang District Procuratorate of Datong City due to lack of evidence.
Ms. Qiao Wenlan from Rongcheng City was reported to the police while telling people about Falun Gong at the Datuan Town farmers market on May 16, 2023. She was arrested by two officers from the Datuan Town Police Station. Her home was ransacked.
Ms. Liu Guilan from Hantai District has been missing since May 17, 2023.
Starting at midnight on May 17, 2023, Mr. Liu Shunming from Maqiao Town, Minhang District, was harassed, followed, and monitored.
Four Domestic Security officers went to the home of Ms. Ning Guoqiong’s son on April 10, 2023. Ms. Ning and her husband temporarily stayed there. The officers said that Ms. Ning submitted a truth-clarification letter last November. They took out a detention order and planned to detain her for a week from April 11 to April 18. They asked Ms. Ning’s son to sign on her behalf. He refused. In the end, the officers did not take Ms. Ning away.
Mr. Li Hongtao worked at a construction site in Luhe County, but has not been seen since the morning of April 20, 2023. Before he lost contact with his family and friends, he sent a message to his classmate: “Government personnel are looking for me.”
In 2010, he was arrested by the Shijiazhuang City police for distributing Shen Yun CDs, and was sentenced to four years in prison.
Li Wei, head of Yanjiao Town Domestic Security Division, and others together with six or seven officers from the Dongcheng Police Station went to Ms. Sui Lixian’s home on May 14, 2023. They showed her a photo of a banner, and asked Ms. Sui if she hung it. They ransacked her home and took her and two other practitioners to the police station. They later confiscated a computer, at least two printers, Falun Gong books, and printed materials. The three practitioners were repeatedly interrogated. The police did not find any “evidence.” Ms. Sui is now held in Sanhe City Detention Center, and the other two practitioners have been released.
Ms. Ding Hairong, 62, was arrested and taken to the Xinghua Police Station in Longtan District on May 4, 2023. She was taken to the Jilin City Detention Center on May 6.
Ms. Yang Liping and Ms. Zhang Dongyun from Baoqing County was arrested by officers from the No. 597 Farm Police Station, in Baoqing County, while they were distributing information about Falun Gong at a farm on May 12, 2023. They are being held in a detention center in Shuangyashan City.
Mr. Liu Jinbo from Qixia City was arrested by officers from the Jinqiao Police Station in the Development Zone on May 18, 2023, when he was on the first floor of the building where he rented a room. The officers took his keys, and seven or eight plainclothes officers broke into his room, ransacked it, and confiscated a computer, a printer, all his Falun Gong books and printed materials.
Ms. Yao Qingyun and Ms. Zhang Guixiang from the No. 2 Factory were arrested by officers from Longgang District Police Department on May 18, 2023. Ms. Yao was released on bail. Both practitioners were beaten and their homes were ransacked.
The other practitioners who were arrested were, Mr. Lyu Zhenrong and his wife from Changqing Residential Community, Ms. Wang Lihua from Xizhai Residential Community, and Ms. Zhang Xiu’e, from Jingyuan High-rise.
Five officers from the Fate Police Station went to Mr. Li Bingku’s home on May 7, 2023, and asked if he was moving out. He said he had nowhere to go, and would not move out. They left without saying anything.
On May 9, the officers returned to Mr. Li’s home and searched the place. They did not find anything. They told him to go with them, but he refused. They said they would take him to the police station and ask a few questions, and then he could return home.
Mr. Li went with them and did not return after a day and a half. His family went to the police station to demand his release. The police said they would let him go that afternoon. Instead, Mr. Li was taken to Nanshan Detention Center the following day. The officers told his family that Mr. Li would be held for 15 days. The police station called the wife of Mr. Li’s nephew and told her to bring him some clothes.
On May 9, the officers went to Jin Guisheng’s home. Before they left they asked for the names and phone numbers of each person in Jin’s family.
On May 7, the officers also went to Tan Hongchen’s home in Xiliang Village. They searched the place, found nothing, and left. They also went to the homes of several practitioners and left without entering their homes.
On May 7, 2023, several practitioners in Jiulongpo District were arrested and their homes were ransacked. They are: Mr. Liao Guoyu, Mr. Zhu Dahua, Ms. Ji Sufang, Ms. Tan Bihua, Mr. Dai Wenli, Ms. Wang Min, Duan, and Mr. Zhong Shiqiao.
Ms. Zhou Enbo, in her 60s, was taken to a hospital in Guan County by Domestic Security officers. She was later transferred to the Liaocheng City Detention Center.
Ms. Zhang Zuojun was arrested on March 31, 2023. She was released on bail and returned home on May 9.
Ms. Shi Xiaochun was arrested at work by officers from the Xiangyang Police Station in the Jiguan District on the evening of May 12, 2023.
Mr. Zhang Detang traveled to Wuhan City on May 14, 2023, by train, to take care of his son who was hospitalized in Wuhan Hospital. At the Xiaogan East Railway Station security checkpoint, a copy of Zhuan Falun was found in his backpack.
Special task force officers of the Xiaogan East Railway Station took him into custody at the railway station, and immediately contacted the Chengdong Police Station in the Development Zone where Mr. Zhang’s household registration was on file. They took him to the Chengdong Police Station for interrogation. They took his keys and ransacked his home, but did not find anything. They released Mr. Zhang after 8 p.m.
Ms. Yu Fengzhen and Ms. Yu Yongqin from Binhe Township rode motorcycles to the area in Tongtai Township, Dehui City, to tell people about Falun Gong on May 7, 2023. They were reported to the police, were arrested and taken to the Tongtai Township Police Station for interrogation. The officers ransacked their homes and confiscated a large number of Falun Gong books and Minghui Weekly. Both practitioners are being held in Dehui City Detention Center for 15 days.
Ms. Li Rong from Donghu Sub-district was arrested by officers from the Donghu Police Department who were staked out on the first floor of her building on May 18, 2023. She was released three hours later.
At 6 a.m. on May 11, 2023, more than twelve people went to Ms. Su Chengfang’s home and knocked on the door. Ms. Su did not open it. They climbed up to the second and third floors, broke in and arrested her. They also confiscated her Falun Gong books and personal belongings.
Ms. Li Huan was arrested at home.
Ms. Zhang Jiqiu from the Tiedong area was recently arrested. Further information is pending.
The Jiangbei New District 610 Office sent officers from the Taishan Police Station and the Yanjiang Police Station in a coordinated campaign to arrest 13 practitioners and a family member, Mr. Zhang Weifeng, at the same time around noon on October 14, 2022.
Mr. Zhang Weifeng, a non-practitioner, is Ms. Fan Cuihua’s son. He has been held in custody for six months. Ms. Fan is in her 80s. Mr. Zhang will be tried by the Xuanwu District Intermediate Court at 9 a.m. on May 24, 2023.
Ms. Sun Wenwen, 75, was recently sentenced to four years in prison by the Dongzhou District Court. Prison officials ignored her age and poor health. She is currently held in the Fushun City Detention Center in the Nangou area.
Ms. Sun and Ms. Wang Caiyun were arrested and their homes were ransacked by officers from the Longfeng Police Station on May 17, 2023, for telling people about Falun Gong. They were released on bail after their family paid 8,000 yuan. Afterwards, Ms. Sun was harassed several times. The police, procuratorate, and court collaborated behind the scenes and collected information to prosecute Ms. Sun.
Around August or September 2022, Ms. Sun left home after learning that the Dongzhou Court planned to try her on September 15, 2022.
Ms. Sun was arrested again while she was displaced, and was held in the Fushun City Detention Center.
