(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 21 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jingzhou City, Hubei Province] The Case Against Ms. Liu Wanzhen and Ms. Xiong Yuanzhen Submitted to the Procuratorate

The case against Ms. Liu Wanzhen and Ms. Xiong Yuanzhen from Jinzhou District was recently submitted to the Jinzhou District Procuratorate by the Dongcheng Police Station.

2. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Nine Practitioners Arrested

Nine practitioners in Renzhao Town were arrested on the morning of May 9, 2023. They are Mr. Zheng Zhijun and his wife, Mr. Zhao Minghua and his wife, Ms. Yu Zhenxiang and her mother-in-law, Ms. Yu Cuifang, Mr. Zhao Yougong’s daughter-in-law, and Mr. Sun Kelin. They are detained in Zhanggezhuang Town.

3. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Chen Guizhi was arrested at home by officers from the Nanshan Police Station on the morning of May 9, 2023. Ms. Chen Guifang was arrested at Ms. Chen Yan’s home. Another practitioner surnamed Jiao was also arrested.

4. [Tianjin] Ms. Chu Yan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Chu Yan from Tanggu Bohai Petroleum in Binhai New District, was arrested in Minhang District. She was placed under criminal arrest on April 30, 2023, and was sent to the Minhang District Detention Center.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Guiqin Dies While Being Detained

Ms. Wang Guiqin was detained in 2021 and was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer during her detention. She passed away on May 8, 2023.

6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Case Against Zou Jianhua Submitted to the Court

Zou Jianhua was arrested on January 30, 2023, for distributing information about Falun Gong in a residential community. Zou has been detained since then and the case is now submitted to the Liaozhong Court.

7. [Shanghai] Ms. Jin Runfang Arrested

Four officers arrested Ms. Jin Runfang at her home on the morning of April 21, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated two Falun Gong books, several copies of Minghui Weekly, and some amulets. Ms. Jin was released that afternoon. A surveillance camera was installed opposite Ms. Jin’s home to monitor her.

8. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Practitioner Sun Arrested and Detained

Sun (first name and gender unknown) was arrested by officers from the Chengxi Police Station on April 27, 2023. Sun was held for five days in the Linyi City Detention Center and was released on May 2, 2023.

9. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Meng Qinglan and Her Husband Mr. Wei Qingjun Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Meng Qinglan and her husband Mr. Wei Qingjun were tried in the Xinglongtai District Court in April 2023. Their family and their lawyer were not informed of the trial. Ms. Meng was sentenced to eighteen months in prison; Mr. Wei was sentenced to one year in prison. Ms. Meng is incarcerated in the Panjin City Detention Center. Mr. Wei has been taken to the Panjin Prison.

10. [Xiantao City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Yanqiu and Ms. Yang Dongmei Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liu Yanqiu and Ms. Yang Dongmei from Huchang Town were arrested by officers from the Huchang Town Police Station on the evening of May 7, 2023. They were placed under 15-day detention and 10-day detention respectively and were sent to the Xiantao City Detention House. The police ransacked Ms. Liu Yanqiu’s home on May 8, 2023, and confiscated two printers and some truth-clarifying materials.

11. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Wang Haiyun Arrested and Detained

Ms. Wang Haiyun, a retiree from the Yonghong Machinery Factory of Xiaohe Guihang Group, was arrested at home by four officers from the Wudang District Police Department on the afternoon of April 16, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, media player, and other belongings. Ms. Wang was taken to the Sanjiang Detention House the next day and held for 11 days.

12. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Mo Fengyun Arrested and Detained

Ms. Mo Fengyun from Huanggu District was arrested and has been detained in the No. 2 Women’s Prison of Liaoning Province. Because she refuses to be brainwashed, she is not allowed to have visitors.

13. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Tian Mouliang and Wang Mouxia Sentenced to Prison

Tian Mouliang and Wang Mouxia were arrested by officers in Guangling County on October 26, 2021, and were placed under official arrest on December 23, 2021. They were tried in the Yungang District Court on April 27, 2022, and were sentenced to seven months in prison.

14. [Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Huafen Arrested and Detained

Four officers from the Zhakou Police Station arrested Ms. Wang Huafen at her home at 8 p.m. on March 25, 2023. Ms. Wang was handcuffed behind her back all night in the police station and was placed under 14-day detention.

15. [Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Mei Guangli Arrested

Ms. Mei Guangli was arrested at home by officers including Deng Lijun, head of the Lidong Township Police Station on April 13, 2023. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

16. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Zou Arrested

Practitioner Zou was arrested and taken to a police station on May 8, 2023, for distributing information about Falun Gong. Zou’s whereabouts are unknown.

17. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Zhao Heye Arrested and Detained

Zhao Heye from Laiyuan County was arrested on April 19, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong and was detained for seven days.

18. [Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province] Ms. Lu Xiaoyan Arrested

Ms. Lu Xiaoyan was arrested on May 5, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked.

19. [Tianjin] Li Guixin Arrested and Detained

Li Guixin from Hedong District was arrested by officers from the Hedong District Police Department on February 27, 2023. She was incarcerated in the Hedong District Detention Center.

20. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Arrested

Ms. Zhang was arrested at her barber shop by two officers from the Fuwang Road Police Station on April 20, 2023. She was taken to the Qinghe Road Police Station and was released at 10 p.m.

21. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zhong Yuanying Harassed

Ms. Zhong Yuanying, over 70, was harassed at home by people from the local police station and the local community on the morning of May 5, 2023. They confiscated some truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong from her bag.

22. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Six practitioners who work at the Zhuanghongli Chemical Plant in Laizhou Development Zone were arrested on the afternoon of May 8, 2023. They are Lin Hongjie, Qin Guiying, Li Guangkun, Teng Qinhua, Xiu Guozhi, and Fang. The police officers came in twelve police cars, arrested them, and confiscated their computers, printers, truth-clarifying materials, etc.

23. [Chongqing City] Ms. Zhao Jiayu Arrested

Ms. Zhao Jiayu from Shaping District was arrested on the morning of May 1, 2023, for talking to a plainclothes officer about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Yupei Road Police Station in the Chenjiawan Subdistrict. She was handcuffed, put in shackles, tied to a tiger bench, and not given any food or water. The police took her to her home that evening and ransacked it. Her Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated. She was released late that night.

24. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Five female practitioners including Ms. Zhou Jingli and Ms. Ni in her 80s, were arrested at Ms. Zhou’s home by more than 20 police officers on May 5, 2023. The practitioners were later released on bail pending trial.

25. [Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Liu Chunxia Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liu Chunxia from Huyi District was arrested at her workplace on May 5, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She is held in the Lianhu District Detention Center.
