(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Qin Jielan was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison in early May 2023, and is being held in the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center. The prosecutor told her family that she would be sent to prison soon.
The police repeatedly stalked and arrested her throughout 2022, and ransacked her home.
Ms. Sha Shuyan of the Hulan District will be tried in the Daowai District Court on May 9, 2023.
The majority of practitioners who live in the Qiaocheng District experienced harassment, had their homes ransacked, or have been arrested since the beginning of May 2023. Ms. Liu Guangxiu and Ma. Ma Yuxia were among those whose homes were ransacked.
Wang Huai and Shi Guangshan of Niuji Town, as well as a female practitioner in Wuma Town, were arrested and held in the Hongshanmiao Brainwashing Center. Wang was released because of herpes zoster.
Ms. He (first name unknown) and Ms. Lu (first name unknown), who live in the Jinzhou District, were arrested by officers from the Huanghai Road Police Station on May 2, 2023, after someone reported them for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Development Zone. Ms. Lu was held in the Yaojia Detention Center. Ms. He was released because she failed the detention center entry physical exam.
Ms. Zhang Liwen, 80, and Ms. Zhou Linyan, in her 70s, live in Xishan, Wanbolin District. They were arrested by officers from the Yingxin Street Police Station and the Domestic Security Division on April 28, 2023 for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their homes were ransacked. They were released the next day.
Ms. Zhang was at home when the officers came. They picked her lock, but they failed to open the door even after they damaged it. They finally had the apartment owner open the door. They seized more than 30 Falun Gong books, a notebook computer, two cell phones, two music players, several Minghui Weekly publications, more than 30 keepsakes, and every piece of paper which had the words Falun Gong. From Ms. Zhou’s home, they seized six Falun Gong books, a media player, and other belongings.
Mr. Zhou Deyong was a senior engineer in the Shengli Oil Field Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration. He was placed on trial three times in the last two years. He was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined 100,000 yuan by the Dongying District Court on April 22, 2023. He has appealed.
Ms. Qiu Chunmei was arrested in early April 2023
Ms. Li Ailian was photographed by a young man while she was talking about the persecution of Falun Gong on the afternoon of March 9, 2023. Four plainclothes officers arrived, photographed and video-recorded her, took her purse, handcuffed her, and dragged her into a car. She was taken to the Nanguan Police Station. Her home was ransacked that evening. The next morning, she was taken to the Weicheng Police Department, where officers collected her blood samples and fingerprints, and interrogated her. In the end, they ordered her to sign and fingerprint a report. She did not comply. They finally got her signature by tricking her, saying it was her child’s bail out paper for her. She was released.
Ms. Fan Yuping lives in Xuying Township. She and her husband went to Beijing for sightseeing with a tour group on April 25, 2023. After she checked into a hotel with her identity card, as required by regulation, she was arrested by Liaocheng City police. They brought her back to Liaocheng and held her in a detention center. Her husband was escorted home against his will. Officers ransacked her home and seized her Falun Gong books and other belongings.
Mr. Liu Zhirong, Mr. Qin Youfu, Ms. Li Suzhen, and Ms. Lei Xingmin were arrested at their homes by plainclothes officers on the morning of April 11, 2023. They were taken to the Shiyou Road Police Station and told that their case, referring to their arrest and house arrest on July 22, 2020, was still open because of the pandemic. The officers questioned them and gave each of them a house arrest notification after 4:00 p.m. None of them took it. They were released.
Practitioners in Jianping County, who live in Haladaotou Town, Laoguandi, Heishui, Reshuibajia Farm, and several other areas, were harassed on April 17, 2023. Officers from police stations and agents from the Political and Legal Affairs Committee ransacked their homes, tore down couplets and pieces of paper with the Chinese character for “good fortune,” and confiscated Falun Gong books and pendants with Falun Gong information. When they left, they threatened, “The county will send inspectors in two days. You must say you no longer practice. Whoever says they practice will be arrested.”
The Jianping County Political and Legal Affairs Committee and 610 Office recently announced that they will check practitioners between May 10 and 12.
Ms. Wang Chunling was arrested for distributing Falun Gong flyers on May 4, 2023. Officers took her key and searched her place, which led to Zhu E’s and Zhan Fengying’s homes being ransacked. Their Falun Gong books and cash were confiscated.
Ms. Zhu was arrested but was released after a detention center refused to admit her due to her health. She was given 15 days of house arrest. She has stayed away from home to avoid further persecution. Ms. Zhan was taken away but sent home the same night on May 4. Ms. Wang is probably being held in the Jilin City Detention Center.
Ms. Tao Yongxian was arrested for distributing Falun Gong U-drives to people on the street on May 1, 2022. She was taken to the police department for interrogation and was later released on bail pending trial. Director Wu Guiyu and three officers from the Wulan County No. 2 Police Station went to her home at around 4:50 p.m. on April 21, 2023. They questioned her, “Over 50 U-drives and over 100 keepsakes were found in your house during last year’s search. Who gave them to you?” They ordered her to sign some paperwork. She did not reply and did not sign.
The prosecutor called her relative on April 25, 2023, saying she would be either arrested or released on bail pending trial. The prosecutor called her husband on April 27 and said the same thing.
Five or six people from the police station and Procuratorate went to her home to arrest her after 2:00 p.m. on April 28, but she was not there. When they returned the next day she was not at home. She dared not stay in her home.
Ms. Zhang Ruiping was arrested at home on April 19, 2023. When her child left home to go to work in the early morning, officers who had been waiting outside rushed into her home, arrested her, and ransacked the place. She was taken to the Yangquan City Brainwashing Center.
She was transferred to the Yangquan City Detention Center on May 5 by people from the Chengqu Police Department, the Chengqu Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and the Nanshan Road Police Station.
Mr. Sheng Yi and Ms. Li Xia went to Ms. Yuan Hongying’s home after 8:00 a.m. on May 4, 2023. They were arrested by officers waiting in the corridor. Ms. Yuan was arrested at home by officer Lu Bin and others from the Caihong Police Station after 2:30 p.m. on May 6. Her home was ransacked. Another female practitioner, name unknown, was arrested at the same time. All of them are being held in a detention center.
Lu Bin and other officers went to Ms. Yuan’s daughter’s home to arrest Wang Yan on the morning of May 7. When they did not find Wang, they ransacked the place.
