(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 27 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Tong Jinping from Chaisang District was arrested by officer Xiong Xiaoxiong and others from the Ruichang City Police Department on June 16, 2022. She was held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center. In January 2023, the Jiujiang City Intermediate Court tried her via video link. Her lawyer asked that she be released. The court has not yet issued a verdict.
During her detention, Ms. Tong was persecuted and developed severe symptoms of diabetes. Her abdomen swelled, and she was unable to take care of herself. She was so weak that she needed two people to help her go to the toilet.
Ms. Tong’s husband and son applied to the court for her release, and they have not yet heard anything.
Ms. Yang Mingzhen, Ms. Li Fengying, Ms. Zheng Yunmei, Ms. Wang Shihua, and Mr. Wang Jiangtao have been held in the Rizhao City Detention Center since they were arrested last year. The Rizhao Court scheduled a trial on April 28, 2023.
Ms. Zhou Yafen was arrested at the end of August 2022. She has been held in a detention center for eight months. The detention center officials did not allow her to see her family members, nor did they allow them to send her any clothing to change into.
Ms. Zhou was forced to sit on a small stool around the clock and was not allowed to sleep. As a result, Ms. Zhou developed symptoms of high blood pressure. The detention center guards forced her to take medicine.
Since 2020, Yonglong Town government officials, led by Neighborhood Committee member Li Yin’an, repeatedly harassed Ms. Wang Huafeng. They claimed that they were visiting her. As a result, she lived in a state of anxiety. Coupled with the harassment of Ms. Wang’s daughter by the 610 Office and the Xinshi Town Police Station, Ms. Wang and her daughter left home for two weeks. About two weeks after they returned home, Ms. Wang passed away suddenly at around 8 a.m. on New Year’s Day in 2022.
Ms. Yin Dayu returned to her home in the Xianggangcheng area in the Dadukou District on the morning of April 21, 2023. When she opened the door, seven or eight people suddenly rushed over and forced their way in. The police officers ransacked her home and confiscated 58 Falun Gong books and two cell phones. Ms. Yin was taken to the Dadukou District Police Department, where she was interrogated. She has returned home.
Ms. Li Guilan was also arrested and is still in custody.
Ms. Li Linong was arrested by plainclothes officers from the Huoju Road Police Station on the morning of April 22, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The officers slapped her face, photographed her, did a physical examination, and took her fingerprints. They tried to initiate the process of placing her under detention.
Ms. Li negated the police officers’ attempt to detain her, and returned home by 9 p.m. that evening.
Ms. Fan Yuping, 65, from Gantun Township, Guan County, was reported to the police on August 28, 2021, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Ganguantun Police Station. She was taken to the Guan County Detention Center the following day. She was later sentenced to two years in prison. Further details are pending.
Mr. Huang Yuping from Yaohai District was arrested and his home ransacked on the morning of April 18, 2023. He was released that night and placed under residential surveillance.
Ms. Yang Hefang was reported to the police and arrested around March 15, 2023. She is being held in the Kaifeng City Detention Center.
Ms. Huang Qiaoyun was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential community in mid-April 2022. She was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Wujiashan Street Police Station in the Dongxihu District. She was held in the police station for one day and released on bail. In mid-April 2023, her case was turned over to the procuratorate.
Ms. Huang is being held in Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.
Ms. Hao Liqin from Qinglong County is being held in the Qinhuangdao City No. 1 Detention Center. She is sometimes handcuffed and shackled for doing the Falun Gong exercises.
Ms. Liu Yanqing went to her sister’s home in Beijing on February 26, 2023, to take care of her mother, whose leg was fractured. She was reported to the police for distributing information about Falun Gong. On March 4, she was arrested at her sister’s home by officers from the Qiaozi Police Station in the Huairou District. The officers ransacked her sister’s home and confiscated five or six Falun Gong books.
Officers from the Huairou District Police Department notified the Zhangbei County Police Department in her hometown in Hebei Province, to send officers to search her home wearing a “law enforcement recorder.” The officers confiscated amulets. A few days later, Huairou Police Department officers, who wore law enforcement recorders, went to her home in Hebei Province to search the place.
On March 4, Ms. Liu was held overnight at the police station. The next day she was taken to the Huairou District Detention Center, where she was held for one month. On April 4, she was released on bail.
Zhang Xiaoyi, head of the Suifenhe City Domestic Security Division, and several police officers arrested Ms. Liu Dongmei while she was distributing Falun Gong materials on February 17, 2023. On March 28, the Hailin City Procuratorate notified her that she had been officially placed under arrest.
On the morning of April 24, Ms. Liu’s lawyer went to the Mudanjiang City Detention Center to meet with her, and then went to the procuratorate to review her case files.
Gao Chengchang, over 50 years old, was reported to the police and arrested while out of town on April 7 or April 8, 2023.
Ms. Yang Jiali was arrested by officers from the Shuita Police Station, who were following orders from the Jianghan District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the 610 Office, and the Jianghan District Police Department. She has been missing for two weeks, and her whereabouts are still unknown.
Ms. Dai Mingrong, 62, from Zhaoyuan County, was doing laundry at home on September 12, 2022, when several plainclothes officers came in and forcibly took her away.
She was held in the Dumeng County Detention Center, where she was tortured. In 2023, she was transferred to the Daqing City Detention Center. She suffered a mental collapse. Her body trembles uncontrollably, and she cannot control her facial expressions or body movements. She often talks to herself.
Ms. You Quanfang from Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province, was arrested on April 20, 2023, by Lijiang police at her daughter’s home in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. The officers ransacked her daughter’s home and found nothing they were looking for. She was placed under criminal detention.
Li Wanbiao, Zheng Chunmei, Lu Zhengwei, and Wang Xiubo were arrested by Xing Weiguo and other officers from the Ningjiang District No. 2 Domestic Security Division on December 14, 2020.
Afterwards, one practitioner escaped. Wang Jinbo returned home due to health reasons, and was placed under residential surveillance. Wang had to regularly undergo physical examinations.
On April 12, 2023, after Wang Jinbo was called to take a physical examination, he was taken to the Songyuan City Detention Center. He has not returned home yet.
Zhao Xuan was arrested by officers from Jingshan Town Police Station in Yuhang District on March 21, 2023.
