(Minghui.org) This year’s World Falun Dafa Day, May 13th, marks the 31st year since Falun Dafa’s public introduction and 72nd birthday of Falun Dafa’s founder Mr. Li Hongzhi. Several new practitioners in Hong Kong expressed their joy after they began practicing Falun Dafa and their gratitude to Master Li on the eve of World Falun Dafa Day.
Mrs. Lau said, “Master, Happy Birthday to you! Thank you for teaching me and guiding me to be a good person! The law of the universe turns out to be three principles: Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
Mrs. Lau said that memorizing Zhuan Falun helps guide her conduct amid conflicts and tribulations, and helps her step out of life’s conflicts.
Before she began practicing Falun Dafa in 2021, Mrs. Lau studied many different Buddhist schools in her search for the truth. Then she read Falun Dafa’s main book, Zhuan Falun.
She feels Master Li tells people profound teachings in simple language, “The greatest Way is extremely simple,” she said. “Some people told me they do not practice Falun Dafa because what Master Li teaches is too simple. But I think it’s just the opposite. Master Li says everything so clearly and in such plain terms so that people can cultivate quickly.”
Mrs. Lau not only reads Zhuan Falun every day, but began to memorize it, and feels she has gained a lot. She said, “When tribulations and conflicts occur, I remember Master’s teachings and they guide me to view and handle things with compassion, making it easy for me to come out of adversity in life.”
Mr. Cheung retired from the civil service in 2017, and just as he was beginning to enjoy his retirement, the Hong Kong government introduced a bill to amend the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance, known as the “Extradition Bill,” which, if passed, could send Hong Kong people to mainland China for trial. This sparked massive protests.
The Anti-extradition Movement was suppressed by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) in 2019, and the social environment in Hong Kong has continued to deteriorate. “I was very depressed. Born and raised in Hong Kong, we have contributed to its prosperity. I felt so helpless watching them [the CCP] destroy it.”
After the Anti-extradition Movement, Mr. Cheung often watched the Epoch Time’s web-based programs and later met Falun Dafa practitioners. He was inspired by their optimism and how they uphold their belief despite the harsh environment in Hong Kong. In 2021, he decided to begin practicing Falun Dafa.
After practicing for two years, Mr. Cheung said he felt great improvement in mind and body, “I feel life is getting better. Some friends I haven’t seen in two or three years due to the pandemic recently saw me and said I look younger than before.”
The biggest change for Mr. Cheung was rethinking his goal in life. He said, “Before, I was into feasting and enjoying myself. I wanted to make a lot of money even after I retired. But now I pursue Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and I hope to help others as much as I can, as well as exchange understandings with other practitioners. This life suits me better.”
Mrs. Chan is the mother of three boys. She was so exhausted from caring for her children during the three-year pandemic that she suffered from depression. Just 20 days after she began practicing Falun Dafa, she recovered.
Mrs. Chan says that after practicing Falun Dafa, she let go of her resentment toward her in-laws.
“My oldest son began taking Internet classes at home in 2020. He would not listen to the teacher or do any homework. I was so upset with him that I became depressed. I screamed at him and sometimes hit him like a crazy person. He kicked me, hit me back, and threw things at me.”
Social workers encouraged Mrs. Chan to see a doctor and take medicine, but her condition did not improve. She began to suffer headaches and had to lay in bed all day. Furthermore, she started to suffer memory loss.
“My depression kept getting worse. I felt life was so painful that I wanted to die. At that point I recalled that my mother’s many illnesses were gone after practicing Falun Dafa, so I decided to try practicing. Soon, my whole body became relaxed and my headaches stopped.”
Mrs. Chan said that her mother used to suffer from many illnesses, including a herniated disc, brain hemorrhage, and headaches. Her mother often fought with her father and even attempted suicide.
Mrs. Chan said Falun Dafa gave her mother a healthy body and a happy family. Her mother persisted in practicing Falun Dafa for more than 20 years despite the CCP’s persecution.
After she practiced for 20 days, Mrs. Chan went to the hospital for a follow-up checkup and told the doctor and social workers that she fully recovered after practicing Falun Dafa.
In addition to her physical health, Mrs. Chan said Falun Dafa taught her how to teach her sons. She encouraged them to practice Falun Dafa and read Zhuan Falun. “My eldest son is well-behaved and sensible now. He sometimes says to me, “Mom, it has not been easy for you.”
Before practicing Falun Dafa, Mrs. Chan had conflicts with her in-laws and refused to see them. When she read about “filial respect for parents” in Zhuan Falun, she let go of her resentment for her parents-in-law and took her sons to meet them at a restaurant, which made them very happy.
She told them, “If I didn’t practice Falun Dafa, I wouldn’t have brought the children to see you. But Falun Dafa has changed me.”
She said she wanted to show her in-laws that Falun Dafa is not like what the CCP claims. She wanted to show them that practicing Falun Dafa can change one into a good person.
In honor or May 13th, Mrs. Chan said, “Happy Birthday, Master! Thank you, Master, for saving me and my family! You have worked hard, Master!”
