(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Huang Zhisong and Mr. Jiang Xiagen were each sentenced to three years and six months in prison by the Taihu County Court on April 6, 2023. Both practitioners appealed when the sentences was announced.
Ms. Chen Qiuju and Ms. He Xuemei from Pengxi County were reported to the police two years ago for talking to people about Falun Gong. They have been held in the Pengxi County Detention Center and will be tried in the criminal court of the Pengxi County Court on April 10, 2023.
Ms. Zhang Chunjie, 59, and her husband were arrested by officers from the Erdao District Domestic Security Division and the Dongzhan Police Station around 9 a.m. on February 19, 2023. The officers confiscated their books and personal belongings. Ms. Zhang’s husband returned home that evening. Ms. Zhang was placed under 15 days of administrative detention.
The officers later claimed that Ms. Zhang’s administrative detention was changed to criminal detention. It was recently learned that Ms. Zhang was officially placed under arrest by the Chaoyang District Procuratorate.
Five people from the Yuancheng District Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Dongyuan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Domestic Security Division, and the Bailingtou Neighborhood Committee in Yuancheng District broke into 73-year-old Mr. Qiu Denong’s rented home and arrested him on March 20, 2023.
Ms. Su Shuqing was arrested in October 2017. She was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.
For over three months in Jilin Prison, Ms. Su was ordered to stand up, sit on a small stool, and was kept in freezing temperatures. She was verbally insulted and forced to take unidentified pills.
After returning home in October 2019, Ms. Su’s husband installed a camera in front of their home. Her pension was suspended. Police officers and the community management personnel repeatedly harassed her. Her husband could not bear the pressure and beat her violently. After suffering extensive persecution, Ms. Su passed away on May 4, 2022, at the age of 63.
Mr. Miao Jianguo was transferred from Panjin Prison to Jinzhou Prison, where prison officials told him that if he did not “transform,” his family members would not be allowed to deposit money for him, or send him clothes.
Officials from Shilipeng Village, in Shekou Sub-district, Huangpi District, along with police officers broke into Ms. Zhang Lanfen’s home and ransacked it around 7 p.m. on April 7, 2023. They took Ms. Zhang to the police station.
Ms. Kong Qingping was arrested by officers from the Lijia Street Police Station in Shahekou District on October 22, 2022. She is still being held in the Yaojia Detention Center. No family visits have been allowed.
Ms. Kong’s case was brought to the Ganjingzi District Court. She was to be tried by the Ganjingzi District Court at 9 a.m. on April 11, 2023.
Ms. Lin Kuimei was arrested by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station while talking to people about Falun Gong near the Yantai Train Station on the morning of April 6, 2023.
Mr. Chen Deguang was arrested by officers from the Haishiwan Town Police Station on March 20, 2023. He was held in the Haishiwan Detention Center. On March 28, the Honggu District Procuratorate issued a warrant for Mr. Chen’s arrest. Mr. Chen started a hunger strike when he entered the detention center. On the evening of March 28, he was brought home by his family.
Ms. Zhang Xihua from Wutai Township was harassed at home by the Wutai Team security director and the No. 4 Sub-team director in mid-March 2023. Ms. Zhang talked to them about Falun Gong. They refused to listen to her and instead reported her to the police station.
Three days later, four or five police officers ransacked Ms. Zhang’s home and confiscated two photos of the founder of Falun Gong, two small radios, printed materials, and two national ID cards. The officers pushed Ms. Zhang into a police car, took her to the police station, and restrained her in an iron chair. They interrogated her and forced her to state: “I don’t practice Falun Gong.” They used a computer to videotape her, and grabbed her hand to press her fingerprints on the paperwork. Then they brought Ms. Zhang home in a police car.
