(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Chen Yuchun was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Liaozhong District Court.
Practitioners in Nong’an County and their families were harassed during the CCP’s “Two Sessions.” More than ten practitioners were arrested, and some are still detained. One practitioner went to Hainan Province on a business trip. Three officers took a flight to track him down. They photographed him and collected samples of his saliva.
Mr. Pan Gang was arrested on April 14, 2023, and his home was ransacked. Mr. Zou Yanming has been missing. Two plainclothes officers followed the practitioners who talked to people about Falun Gong on April 16, 2023.
Mr. Li Bing was arrested at his workplace around 6 p.m. on September 20, 2022. His home was then ransacked. His case was submitted to the court. He will be tried on April 19, 2023. His lawyer was not allowed to visit him before the trial.
Ms. Cai Zefang, 84, from Yingshan County, is a retired teacher. She went to Guang’an County for Chinese New Year and has been missing since late January 2023. Someone noticed a lady on the fifth floor of the No. 2 Hospital on Ronghua Road who looked like Ms. Cai, and was handcuffed and shackled. Ms. Cai lives alone and her friends and relatives have not seen or heard from her since January.
Ms. Cai was imprisoned twice and detained for years. She was sentenced to a one-year prison term in 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The sentence was executed outside of prison.
Ms. Bao Yaqin was arrested when she was distributing information about Falun Gong on March 20, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated two Falun Gong books and two media players. It is not known where Ms. Bao is being detained.
Ms. Cui Xiaowei, 38, lives in Guojiatun Village, Dongzhao Township, Guangzong County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province. She used to work in Suzhou City, Jiangxi Province. She was arrested in Suzhou City on March 20, 2020 when she was distributing information about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated about 50 Falun Gong books and a laptop computer. She was released on bail pending trial.
Ms. Cui was arrested by officers from Suzhou City and the Xindu District Police Department in Xingtai City when she was taking care of a patient in the Renze District People’s Hospital in Xingtai City on the morning of April 11, 2023. She was taken to Suzhou City by train on April 13, 2023.
Eleven practitioners in Ninghe District, including Ms. Chen Xiulan, were arrested during a group arrest on January 8, 2022. Ms. Chen was arrested on the street and her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her computer, printer, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. Ms. Chen was sentenced to three years in prison with five years of probation by the Ninghe District Court in late 2022.
Mr. Chi Shaojun was arrested on the same day as Ms. Chen. He owns a computer repair shop, which was ransacked. He was released the next day.
Ms. Lu Ying was arrested on the way home by officers from the Xinmenguan Police Station, at around 10 a.m. on March 8, 2023. She was detained for ten days.
Ms. Wu, 76, was arrested by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station at around 6 a.m. on April 13, 2023. She was taken to the Yaojia Detention Center.
Ms. Han, 75, was arrested by officers from the Xianjin Police Station at around 6 a.m. on April 13, 2023. She was later released.
Ms. Yu Dehui was arrested by officers from the Jinfeng Town Police Station on February 19, 2020, for distributing amulets in a local residential community during the pandemic. She was released later that day and was placed under residential surveillance. She was bailed out pending trial in August 2020. The case against her was submitted to the Jiulongpo District Procuratorate in mid-February 2023 by the New Technology Development District Police Department.
Ms. Yu has been constantly harassed since her arrest three years ago. During May 13-31, 2020, several cars were parked near her home to monitor her. She was not allowed to leave her home. She was taken from her home to a hospital for a physical exam on June 2021 and was allowed to go home due to her high blood pressure. Four officers including Wang Jiayong, head of the Jinfeng Town Police Station, arrested Ms. Yu at her home for no reason on August 2, 2022 and held her for more than 20 days.
Ms. Wang Guizhen lives in Dayou Village, Caofan Town, Zhangqiu District. She was seen on a surveillance camera when she mailed a letter to the head of the Zhangqiu District Police Department. Officers from the Zhangqiu District Police Department went to her home on the afternoon of April 14, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and Minghui Weekly magazines.
The case against the elderly Ms. Xie from Xindu District was submitted to the Xindu District Procuratorate. The case against Mr. Luo Changyong from Xindu District was submitted to the Xindu District Procuratorate by Zhou Yujun from the Banzhuyuan Police Station.
Several people including He Zhengrong, head of Qidong County Politic and Security Division, went to Mr. Tan Bangyan’s home at 10 p.m. on November 10, 2002. They ransacked his home and confiscated Falun Gong books and flyers. Mr. Tan was taken to the Lingguan Town Police Station. He was handcuffed and hung up by his handcuffed wrists for seven days and nights. He was transferred to the Qidong County Detention Center on November 18, 2002.
Mr. Tan was tried secretly in the Qidong County Court in April 2004 and was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was detained in the Jinshi Prison in Changde City and released in November 2010 at the age of 73.
Mr. Tan was constantly harassed after he was released. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 76.
