(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Jiang Minghui will be tried in the Chengguan District Court on April 6, 2023.
Mr. Meng Fanceng was arrested in the Daqing Railway Station at 8 p.m. on April 28, 2022. He was intercepted when his ID was scanned at the security check point. He was body searched and was found to have MP3 files of Falun Gong books. He was taken to the Dong’an Police Station. His home was ransacked. The police confiscated his computer, laptop, printer and other personal belongings. He was released on bail pending trial for one year on April 29, 2022. The case against him was submitted to the procuratorate on March 30, 2023.
Ms. Lin Jianping received a verdict on March 29, 2023. She was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. She plans to appeal to the Yantai Intermediate Court.
Mr. Guo Shuxue’s pension was withheld by the Yushu City Social Security Bureau in November 2021. At that time, he was told that it would take a while to replace the new card. He later only received some of his pension.
Ma Pingjun was arrested on March 14, 2023 and was detained 15 days. Afterwards, Ma was placed under residential surveillance and was transferred to the Baofeng County Brainwashing Center. Ma’s family was not informed.
Ms. Li Aihua was arrested by several officers from the Jianqiao Police Station on March 22, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated a Falun Gong book, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a poster, incense burner, and other items. She was released the next evening.
Mr. Li Cunguo, 64, was arrested at home by officers in the Taishan District on the afternoon of November 24, 2020. He was detained for two months and was then released on bail pending trial. Mr. Li left home in June 2021.
Mr. Li was arrested by officers in the Taishan District on the afternoon of September 13, 2022. He was incarcerated in the Tai’an City Detention Center. He was tried in the Taishan District Court on March 23, 2023.
Ms. Wei Shujie was secretly tried online by the Daowai District Court at 9 a.m. on July 2, 2022. Her lawyer and her family were not informed. She was sentenced to four years in prison. She appealed, but the original verdict was upheld. Her family received a notice that she would soon be transferred from the No. 2 Detention Center of Harbin City to Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison.
Mr. Lu Lunwen and Ms. Yang Zuojuan were placed on bail pending trial by the Zhaoyuan City Domestic Security Division on May 19, 2022. They were summoned to the Domestic Security Division by four officers, including Sun Zhaopeng on March 27, 2023. The police tricked them into signing paperwork and said that the matter would be settled after they signed.
However, their case was submitted to the procuratorate after they signed. The practitioners were summoned to the procuratorate on March 23, 2023. They refused to cooperate. Their case was returned to the Development Zone Police Station. They were again placed on bail pending trial for one year. They must report to the police station once a month.
Deng was arrested by officers from the Dongguan Police Station at 4:30 p.m. on March 24, 2023. The police found informational materials about Falun Gong and confiscated them. Deng was released on bail for medical treatment and was placed under residential surveillance for one year.
Three practitioners from Zhuolu County: Ms. Ma Yingmei, Ms. Chen Yulian and Ms. Tang Guifang, were reported to police for distributing information about Falun Gong in Jiepailiang Village, Dongxiaozhuang Town on March 13, 2023. They were arrested that afternoon by officers from the Dongxiaozhuang Town Police Station. Their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and cash from Ms. Ma Yingmei’s home, which is located in a village in Zhangjiabao Town. Ms. Chen Yulian’s home is in Zhuolu County City. Ms. Tang Guifang’s home is north of Zhuolu County City. Their bicycles were also confiscated. They were released that evening.
Wang Xin, who temporarily lives in the Baiyun District, has not been heard from since March 23, 2023. It is possible that Wang was arrested by officers from the Songzhou Police Station. Wang had been harassed twice by those officers who threatened to arrest Wang if they ran into Wang.
Ms. Lan Sufen and Ms. Wang Yufeng live in Liudaowanzi Village, Sidaowanzi Town, Aohanqi, Chifeng City. They were arrested in June 2022 for talking to people about Falun Gong in a market. They were released because of the COVID pandemic.
Two practitioners were arrested by local officers including Shi Lihua, head of the police station, on March 22, 2023. Their Falun Gong books were confiscated. Ms. Wang Yufeng was detained. Ms. Lan Sufen was denied admission due to her high blood pressure and was released.
Ms. Liu Surong received a call from the Yang’an Police Station at her work on the afternoon of March 12, 2023, informing her to go to the police station at 9 a.m. the next day. She was arrested when she went there and was detained for 10 days in the Yang’an Detention House. She was released on March 23, 2023.
Ms. Yu Yingzhu from Shifeng District was arrested by officers from the Xiangtianqiao Police Station in the Shifeng District on the afternoon of March 29, 2023. She was taken away by officers from the Tiaoma Police Station in Yuhua District, Changsha City at midnight. Ms. Yu is currently held in the No. 4 Detention Center of Changsha City.
Mr. Yan Sanming from Xundian Town was reported to police for talking about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers including Huang Xiang, head of the Xundian Town Police Station, around March 28, 2023.
Around the same time, Cao Xiaoying, who lives in Xundian Town, was harassed. Yang Xiaochun, who lives in the same town, was summoned to the police station and was forced to have a photo taken.
