(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Zhao Jie was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined 100,000 yuan by the Jingyang District Court on February 17, 2023.
After the trial on the afternoon of March 6, 2023, Ms. Li Jiaxiu was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined several thousand yuan. She was immediately taken to a detention center. Ms. Du Fengqin was sentenced to two years in prison. She failed the physical examination and was not admitted to the detention center. She was taken home after 10 p.m. that evening.
From late February to early March 2023, prior to the CCP’s annual meetings of the National Congress and Political Consultative Conference, officers from the Zhengyang Police Station harassed Ms. Gao Yunlan and Ms. Wang Fenglan over the phone.
On March 4, Ms. Zheng Liyan was harassed by officers from the Zhengyang Police Station who came to her home to collect saliva samples and photograph her.
Ms. Wang Guirong and Ms. Wang Chunxiao from Shouguang City were caught on surveillance cameras when they posted signs of “Falun Dafa is Good” in public areas in September 2022.
Ms. Wang Chunxiao went to Shangkou Town to distribute truth clarification materials and was arrested. Ma. Wang Guirong was called by the police and was interrogated for 10 hours. She was placed under residential surveillance after she was released.
Ms. Jiao Guichun and Wang Ce (gender unknown) were reported to the police for telling people about Falun Gong in 2022. Wang was arrested at home on September 27, 2022, and was sentenced to three years in prison. Ms. Jiao left home and remained homeless for five months.
Ms. Jiao’s husband was frequently harassed by the police and was becoming mentally unstable due to the pressure. After learning that her husband was infected with COVID, she returned home to take care of him.
On March 2, 2023, pressured and threatened by the police, Ms. Jiao’s family took her to the Wendeng District authorities. She is currently being held in the Wendeng District Detention Center.
Mr. Wang Xiaoming was an officer at the Xinbin County Police Department. He was dismissed from his job in July 2021.
Mr. Wang applied to the Xinbin County Government for information disclosure, and then filed a case to bring his application to Qingyuan County Court. The court rejected his case for disclosure of information. Mr. Wang appealed the court decision, and his case reached the Fushun City Intermediate Court.
Next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. the second court of the Fushun City Intermediate Court will hold a hearing.
Tang Hua (gender unknown) was reported to the police while telling people about Falun Gong on March 4, 2023. Tang was arrested by the Shahe Police Station and was detained for 15 days.
Ms. Liu Yinghong was picked up by the police in the detention center on March 7, 2023. She may have been arrested at the end of February.
Ms. Li Caili and her daughter Ms. Jing Shuhe were arrested by officers from the Qingduizi Town Police Station while telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong at the Qingduizi Town farmers market on March 6, 2023.
Six or seven officers, in two police cars, went to search their home but found nothing. In the end, Ms. Li and her daughter were released.
Officers from the Taodong Police Station called Ms. Xin Shurong and her husband, Mr. Sun, on February 28, 2023, and told them to go to the police station to retrieve the Falun Gong books that were confiscated when they ransacked their home.
After the couple went to the police station, they were arrested and detained in the Qitaihe City Detention Center.
On July 11, 2022, nearly 20 people from the Taoshan District Domestic Security Division and the Taodong Police Station ransacked Ms. Xin’s home and tried to arrest her. Ms. Xin and her husband refused to cooperate. After seven hours of confrontation, the couple was not taken away. The officers confiscated a printer and Falun Gong books and told the couple that they were placed under residential surveillance for six months.
Ms. Hu Yuexiu, about 70, has been missing since December 11, 2022.
Mr. Weng Qingzhong, in his 60s, from Baiyun District, was arrested by officers from the Tonghe Police Station on March 4, 2023. He was placed under administrative detention for five days and is being held in the Baiyun District Detention Center.
Ms. Wu Siqing, 59, was caught on surveillance cameras while handing out truth-clarification materials in Changsha City in mid-December 2022.
On December 24, 2022, Ms. Wu was arrested at home by four people from the Xingsha County Domestic Security Division and the Quantang Police Station. Ms. Wu was taken to the police station for interrogation. She was photographed and fingerprinted. The officers recorded her voice and measured her height. She was held overnight in the police station. She returned home the next day.
On February 8, 2023, officers from the police station ransacked the home of Ms. Wu’s son and confiscated 46 Falun Gong books, two USB drives, and one MP4 player. They took Ms. Wu to the Changsha City Detention Center and detained her for 12 days. She has been released on bail.
Ms. Xing Ailing from Panpengdian Village, Bachalu Town, was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by Guan County Court around December 2022.
Ms. Xing’s daughter-in-law, Xiaoyan, was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. She is serving a sentence outside prison.
Practitioner Zhou Enbo’s whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. Qi Yingchun was arrested again on September 25, 2022. She has been held in the Haidian District Detention Center for over six months. Details of her situation are unknown.
Ms. Lu Jinhua and Ms. Zhang Chunjie were put under administrative detention for 15 days. On March 7, 2023, the day they were supposed to be released, officers from the Dongzhan Police Station came and took them for a medical examination. The police asked their family members to wait for phone calls and said that the administrative detention had been changed to criminal detention.
Two other practitioners were forcibly placed in a police car by officers from the Rongguang Road Police Station and taken away. They claimed that the practitioners would be taken to the hospital for medical examinations. Practitioner Liu Yinghong, who lives in a car factory, was taken from the detention center in a police car.
Ms. Cao Chunyan from Hanconggou Town was arrested at home by officers from the Fuyuan City Police Department at noon on March 7, 2023. Further details are pending.
The case of Ms. Wang Chunhua from Yihe Road has been sent to the procuratorate. She is currently being held in the Weizigou Detention Center.
