(Minghui.org) From the East to the West, from traditional culture to modern science and medicine, there is much evidence for reincarnation. Across life cycles, there is a theme that virtue is rewarded and evil incurs retribution. Below are some examples.
One such example is the account of a woman named Barbara in The Search for Past Lives: Exploring Reincarnation's Mysteries & The Amazing Power Of Past-Life Therapy by Dr. Bryan Jameison. Barbara had an unnatural fear of birds and carried an umbrella whenever she went out to avoid them at all costs.
While under hypnosis and being guided to recall her past lives, Barbara remembered she used to be a 27-year-old white man in the American southwest in the late 19th century. He raped an Indian girl, and the victim’s family left him for dead in the desert. Six vultures eventually pecked him to death, starting with one of them pecking an eye out.
But why did the vulture peck his eye out? Remembering back further to medieval France, Barbara recalled she was a male prison guard, whose specialty was gouging out prisoners’ eyes.
There are many such stories of reincarnation. Some of them—in both Eastern and Western cultures—document individuals involved in persecuting people of faith.
Edgar Cayce, a famous American prophet of recent times, once interpreted the past life of a 16-year-old boy who was paralyzed in a car accident. He saw that the boy had been a Roman soldier in the early days of Christianity. The solider gloated over the persecution of Christians and was directly involved in it.
Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty in China was another example. He wiped out Buddhism during his reign, ordering the destruction of Buddha statues all over the country and forcing three million monks to return to secular life. He went to hell after he died, and Emperor Wen succeeded him.
In the eleventh year of the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, Zhao Wenchang, a very old imperial minister who had served both emperors, died and went to the underworld, where he met Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou. He saw that Emperor Wu was wearing a triple clamp lock and was in excruciating pain.
Emperor Wu said to his former minister Zhao Wenchang, “My old sins are nearly paid for—except for the sin of wiping out Buddhism. That was so serious that there is no way I can fully repay it. I hope that the current emperor, Emperor Wen, will do some good deeds on my behalf so that I can escape this hell.”
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has suppressed Falun Gong practitioners since 1999 for their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Those who blindly follow the CCP to persecute innocent people have not only harmed others but also risked their own future.
