(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 30 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Guo Xuhong was recently sentenced to three years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Liaozhong District Court. Ms. Fu Yanling was sentenced to one year and six months and fined 10,000 yuan by the same court.
Mr. Shi Zongxi from Mancheng District was tried in the Shunping County Court at 10:30 a.m. on February 17, 2023. Only his wife was allowed to enter the courtroom. His children and relatives were not allowed to attend the trial. Mr. Shi was brought to court by four guards. His lawyer defended his innocence. The verdict will be out in two months.
Ms. Gao Fengxin from Shuangyang District was arrested by officers in the Shuangyang District in July 2022 and has been detained since. She was recently sentenced to three years in prison.
Ms. Liu Yaofeng and her husband Mr. Yin You were arrested in the railway station by Laiyang Railway Police Station officers on the morning of February 26, 2023, when the couple was about to take a train. They were detained one day and one night. Their home was ransacked.
Ms. Wang Jirong, in her 70s, lives in Yinfeng Village, Majing Town, Shifang City. She was arrested on February 2, 2023 when she was in the Yunxi Town Market. She was detained for 10 days.
Ms. Ma Xianhua and Zhang Shihua were harassed over the phone by officers from the Dafangshen Police Station. Ms. Li Xiuying and Jiao Xifeng were photographed and samples of their DNA were taken by the officers from the police station.
Ms. Xiao Qiuwen and Ms. Xiao Fangmei were arrested by officers from the Houbu Street Police Station in the Anyuan District on the morning of February 27, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Pingxiang City Detention Center the next afternoon.
Ms. Zhao Xijuan and her husband Mr. Wang Pingchuang were arrested in Xi’an City and sentenced to seven years and nine years in prison respectively by the Yanta District Court on December 16, 2021. They appealed to the Xi’an Intermediate Court but the original verdict was upheld.
Mr. Wang Pingchuang was taken to the Weinan Prison on September 26, 2022. Ms. Zhao Xijuan was taken to the Xi’an Women’s Prison in January 2023.
Ms. Zhou Xiaochun was recorded by surveillance cameras when she distributed information about Falun Gong in Shenzhen City. She was arrested by officers from the Maluanshan Police Station in Pingshan District, Shenzhen City, on March 19, 2020. She was later released on bail pending trial.
Later, Ms. Zhou returned to her hometown, Hengyang City. She was summoned to the local procuratorate on May 15, 2020, but she did not go. Ms. Zhou left home and has been wandering around for three years. Her pension was suspended. She is on the CCP’s wanted list.
Several officers went to Ms. Jiang’s home at 1 p.m. on February 22, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated two Falun Gong books. They waited until Ms. Jiang returned home and then took her to the police department. They intended to detain her but released her due to her high blood pressure.
Police in Dehui City conducted group arrests on February 25 and 26, 2023. According to the Minghui website, 11 practitioners were arrested including Xie Yunxiang, Practitioner He, Mr. Zheng Yuming and his wife, Liu Zhongrong Wang Guiying, Wang Xiuqin, Zhuang Hongyan, Li Decheng, Su Cuizhi, and Cui Tao. It is learned that four practitioners, Wang Xiuqin, Zhuang Hongyan, Cui Tao and Mr. Zheng Yuming’s wife, have been released.
Ms. Liu Fengxian was arrested by three plainclothes officers for talking about Falun Gong in a market on February 9, 2023. Six officers then went to her home and ransacked it. They confiscated some truth-clarifying materials, a cell phone, and an MP3 player. Ms. Liu was taken to the Jinling Police Station but was released later.
Ms. Yan Shufang is currently held in the Tonghua Detention Center. Her health is poor and she has high blood pressure, heart problems, kidney failure, cerebral infarction, etc. Her case was submitted to the Liuhe County Court. Her lawyer went to the detention center on February 21, 2023, but was not allowed to meet her.
