Finland: Falun Dafa Association Submits Petition Letter to Human Rights Committee

March 10, 2023 |   By Falun Dafa practitioners in Finland

(Minghui.org) The Falun Dafa Association in Finland presented a detailed report on the persecution in China to the Finnish Human Rights Committee and submitted a petition containing 10,150 signatures calling for an end to the atrocities. The signatures were collected in 152 districts and cities in Finland and from tourists from over 61 countries. Veronika Honkasalo, a Member of the Finnish Parliament (the Assembly of Representatives) accepted the petition.

The petition read: “We call on policymakers in Finland to pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in dealings with China and demand that the persecution ends at once.” Finnish residents hope their government will try its best to support Chinese nationals suppressed in China.

While collecting signatures on the petition, practitioners explained to people what Falun Dafa is and how it is persecuted in China. Many people found it inconceivable and asked what they could do besides signing the petition. They hoped policymakers in the Finnish government will speak out for Falun Gong and inform citizens of the unjust suppression. People from all parts of the world have signed the petition to urge the Finnish government to request that the Chinese Communist Party end the persecution of Falun Gong after learning the extent of the brutalities and organ harvesting.

Ilmari a representative from the Falun Dafa association said, “Incarcerated Falun Gong practitioners have become a source for live organ transplants. In 2019, the China Tribunal led by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC came to this conclusion after hearing evidence from witnesses and experts on the topic.” The tribunal pointed out: “Countries trading with China should now realize they are dealing with a country that has committed crimes against humanity.”

Ilmari also expressed concern about the use of advanced technology in organ harvesting. “In the future, would removing organs become automated through the use of artificial intelligence and robots? In the exchange of technology and collaboration with China, people should remember that they are dealing with a country that has committed crimes.”

Veronika Honkasalo, a Member of Parliament asked about the present situation of labor camps in China. When she heard about organ harvesting, she used the word “astounded” to describe her feelings and said she would report this to her colleagues from different political parties at a small group meeting in parliament that day.

Background: What Is Falun Dafa and Why Is the CCP Persecuting It?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people who have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and have learned the five exercises have experienced improved health and well-being.

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology, and on July 20, 1999, he issued an order to eradicate the practice.

Under Jiang’s personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 23 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. Countless practitioners have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply China’s organ transplant industry.
