(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 4 cities or counties in 3 provinces, where at least 4 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Liu Yongchao and his wife Ms. Yang Xuefang from Baishabu Town, Lanshan District, were harassed over the phone by officers from the Baishabu Town Police Station at around 9:30 a.m. on January 5, 2023. The officers asked to meet with them. After the couple refused their demand, the officers made phone calls again around 4 p.m. on January 6.
Over the years, the couple have been harassed and persecuted by officers from the Lanshan District Police Department and the Baishabu Town Police Station. They stopped being specifically targeted about three years ago when the entire neighborhood was placed under strict control due to the COVID pandemic.
From 2018 to 2019, prison guard Zhao Xiaohong instigated inmates Qu Jun and Zhai Jiajia, in the No. 4 Ward of Liaoning Province Women’s Prison, to beat Ms. Wang Li. The beating took place in a storage room, where they turned off surveillance cameras, the power switch, and power supply. Then they beat Ms. Wang fiercely. Her mouth was filled with blood and her teeth were loosened.
On January 4, 2023, the Pinggu District Education Committee penalized Mr. Liu Yaping by lowering his salary level, on the grounds that he was placed under criminal detention by the Nandulehe Police Station.
The Intensive Training Ward and No. 8 Ward of Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison are dedicated brainwashing centers for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
Those assigned by the prison to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners or specifically monitor particular practitioners are inmates convicted of job-related crimes, fraud, drug trafficking, or murder, and some have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Prison guards took advantage of these inmates’ desire to reduce their prison terms, and urged them to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners against their conscience.
Each practitioner who had just been brought into the wards was forced to sit on a small stool, deprived of sleep, beaten, scolded, and otherwise humiliated from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. Some were not allowed to sleep at all throughout the night, when inmates took turns abusing them.
