(Minghui.org) In the lyrics published in the Hong Yin series over the past few years, Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa, refers to “atheism,” “evolution,” and “modern thought and ways” many times. Having studied these lyrics many times, I’ve realized that the poison of atheism still seriously influences the minds of everyday people and even Falun Dafa practitioners.
Many Falun Dafa practitioners may think that atheism isn’t an issue for them. But since our cultivated side is separated from our human side, we may still be influenced by all kinds of attachments and karma. In fact, science and atheism have permeated every aspect of modern society, so it’s hard to recognize it and not be influenced by it.
In my understanding, a person who is arrogant or careless is already being influenced by atheism. Human beings usually think about things with a human mindset and disregard divine words and miracles. They tend to consider only what is visible and tangible to be real. Since we cannot see Master’s Fashen (Law Body) or the power of Dafa with our naked eyes, we may not really believe in them. As a result, when we finish something, we may regard it as our own accomplishment and take full credit for it.
As cultivators, we know our lives are arranged and that Master is responsible for our abilities. Which means that, for example, if our technical skills improve, it means we have improved our xinxing. In the end, all our skills and abilities are bestowed by the divine.
It is said that, at the end of his music compositions, Johann Sebastian Bach always wrote S.D.G., which is Latin for Soli Deo gloria (Glory to God Alone). I think we Dafa disciples should do better than that. Have we recognized that everything we have, including our abilities and accomplishments, are given by Master? Are there times that we feel complacent over a little progress or feel we are better than others or we put Dafa and Master in the backseat?
Modern technology, such as cell phones, computers, and the internet, makes people think they are very smart and know everything. Because of this, some people may even feel like they are divine beings. Because of society’s moral decline, people abuse this technology for their own ends, which in turn makes them more arrogant and less respectful of the divine. This is very dangerous. As Dafa practitioners, we should be clear that, no matter how advanced human technology is, it is still on the human level and under the control of the divine.
Master wrote,
“When people show the appropriate respect and reverence toward Dafa as it manifests here in this world, they, their race, or their nation will enjoy blessings or honor.” (“On Dafa,” Zhuan Falun)
We all need to ask ourselves if our reverence for Master and the divine is genuine. This is serious and important, especially for those of us who have been influenced by atheism and modern thought.
Fully eradicating atheism, realizing just how profound Dafa is, and remaining humble need to be never-ending efforts on our cultivation journey. But in the new cosmos, only those respectful of the divine can be considered to be a good person, and only good people deserve to be cultivators.
