(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Xu Wenying from Xiangfang District was arrested by officers from the Harbin Railway Police Department on the morning of December 13, 2023. Her home was ransacked and many personal belongings were confiscated. Wang Hong and other practitioners were arrested at the same time.
Ms. Du Shuhui is retired and lives in Yi County. She was arrested at her home at 3 p.m. on November 21, 2023 and taken to the Dingjun Police Station. She was later transferred to the Huanglong Police Station and interrogated. She was tied to a metal chair during the interrogation. She was released at 9 p.m.
Ms. Du was arrested at home again by officers from the Dingjun Police Station on December 7, 2023. She is currently held in the Hantai District Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Yuhe is detained in the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison. Her family went to visit her on December 13, 2023, but once again, were not allowed to see her.
Ms. Fu Xinhua was placed under the residential surveillance again right after the first one expired.
Ms. Pan Yanjun, 51, from Nong’an County, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. She was recently taken to the No. 8 Ward of Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Because she refused to stop practicing Falun Gong, she was tortured and deprived of the right to be visited by her family.
Ms. Li Meiqin from Donghai was harassed at home by two officers at 4 p.m. on December 13, 2023. They took a photo of her and told her not to leave the house.
Six practitioners were harassed by officers from the Duozhuang Town Police Station from November 28 to 30, 2023. They are Feng Guiqin, Wu Zengjian, Qi Chengrong, Zhou Guangming, Zhao Chuanwen, and Liu Fenghou. The police went to the practitioners’ homes and searched for anything related to Falun Gong.
Four officers from the Chengjiang Town Police Station, led by Lin Li from the Meixian District Police Department, went to Ms. Huang Shuzhen’s home at 5:30 p.m. on December 14, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, media players, amulets, and other items. They warned Ms. Huang to not go out and distribute materials related to Falun Gong.
Mr. Shen Jinyou was searched by railway police officers when he was at Chenzhou West High-Speed Railway Station at 4 p.m. on November 17, 2023. The police confiscated a Falun Gong book and a media player.
Three officers from the Jinmen Road Police Station in South District went to Ms. Wang Yuxiu’s home at 3:40 p.m. on November 28, 2023. They ransacked her home while videotaping the process. Ms. Wang was then taken to the police station. When Ms. Wang refused to wear the clothes they provided, she was handcuffed behind her back. They forcefully pulled the handcuffs up, injuring her wrists, and they became bruised and swollen. Her wrists were so swollen that they were thick as her hands.
The police took Ms. Wang to her home that evening and ransacked it again. Ms. Wang remained handcuffed during the entire process. She was once again taken back to the police station. She was released the next day.
Ms. Li Cuixiang lives in Donglin Village, Zangjiazhuang Town, Yantai City. She was arrested on February 1, 2023 after she gave some information about Falun Gong to a person who was the head of the Zangjiazhuang Town Police Station. The police ransacked her home and confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a Falun Gong book, some wall posters, and other items. The village chief called the police station and managed to have her released.
Two police officers went to Ms. Li’s home on the afternoon of October 22, 2023. They questioned her and asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong. They also harassed another practitioner in the village.
Ms. Wang Meng from the Tianhe District was arrested by officers from the Huangcun Street Police Station on March 31, 2021, and taken to the Tianhe District Detention Center. On August 23, 2021 the Haizhu District Procuratorate charged Ms. Wang with “using a cult organization to undermine the implementation of the law,” a standard pretext used by the CCP to slander Falun Gong. She was later sentenced to one year and seven months in prison and fined 6,000 yuan by the Haizhu District Court on June 24, 2022. Her lawyer Qu Zhengbiao defended her innocence during the trial. Ms. Wang appealed, but the verdict was upheld by the Guangzhou Intermediate Court.
Ms. Wang was released on October 30, 2022, but continues to be harassed by local police officers and community staff members.
