(Minghui.org) On October 28, 2023, Falun Dafa practitioners from Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam and other countries formed Chinese characters in Alexandra Gardens in the center of Melbourne. The spectacular scene attracted many passers-by and tourists.
A tourist expressed his admiration for practitioners and said that despite the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), they persisted in their faith and upheld Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Some people said the character formation was positive and peaceful, and that people need the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
Practitioners did the Falun Dafa exercises in Alexandra Gardens on October 28, 2023.
David Murry and his friend Danielle Halliday were happy to see the event.
David Murry and his friend Danielle Halliday came from Perth, the capital of Western Australia. When they saw the practitioners’ character formation activity, they said it made them feel “very positive and calming.” Murry said, “The colors and calmness left us feeling that (they) are spiritual.”
Regarding practitioners spreading Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, Murry said, “It’s easy to get lost in the noise of the modern world. It’s nice that we get a good reminder of the importance of these principles in life.
“Obviously, so many people have come together and I think it’s a great sense of community for a bigger purpose and not just for personal gain.
“If people would just take a little more time to have some inner peace, I think it would make the world a better place.”
After learning about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa, Murry said, “I feel sad and disappointed. I think the Chinese people are brave. Even if what happens in the country is terrible for them, they still insist on their faith and stick to the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
“I was surprised to see so many people here, they all seemed so peaceful,” Cody Brooks said.
Mr. Brooks has some understanding of the current human rights situation in China, “People are responsible for their actions, and that is different in communist China. The CCP can do a lot of bad things and get away with it, and if someone speaks out, they will just go missing.
“Spreading the truth is a good start. Obviously you can’t do that in China, you will be punished for your speech.” Brooks said that the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa is “bad.” “Through these activities practitioners let people learn about the CCP’s evil nature, well done.”
Philip Suersa said it was important to let people learn about the persecution.
Philip Suersa is a student at the University of Melbourne. When he learned about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa, he said, “This is obviously awful and the persecution should stop. It’s sad that we do not get more information about this and people do not know enough about it. More people should know about this.
“Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is important to our society. Especially Compassion, because there are many selfish people in the world now. We should be kind to others and not be jealous and attack others. We need the truth, and it's important to know the truth. We need tolerance because everyone is different, so I think that’s important as well.”
Helen Fewings, a British tourist, said she was drawn to the practitioners’ activities. “The yellow color of their clothes attracted me. So I came over and to take a look. They look calm and peaceful.”
She added, “Its good for people to meditate and remember Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.”
Ms. Fewings said the world would be a better place if more people tried to integrate the values of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance into their lives.
