German Media Report on Mr. Ding’s Rescue Efforts
The day before the event, Curt Magazin announced that Falun Dafa practitioners would hold a special rally on Saturday, September, 23 in Nuremberg to expose the human rights situation in Shandong Province, China, and seek support in rescue operations (Note: Shandong Province is Bavaria’s “sister province”).
Curt Magazin reported that Mr. Ding Lebin addressed the event and said his father continues to be unlawfully detained in China, simply because he practices Falun Dafa. Mr. Ding said that sending letters or postcards pressures the persecutors and that because of these rescue efforts, Mr. Ding Lebin’s mother was recently released.
The report also mentioned Mr. Ding’s appeal to the people and media of Nuremberg, “Please help, help free my father who is being unlawfully detained in China!”
Curt Magazine included background information at the end of the report: Mr. Ding Lebin was born in China and has lived in Germany for 11 years. His parents practice Falun Dafa, a peaceful meditation practice. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has regarded Falun Dafa as an “enemy of the state” since 1999.
Mr. Ding Lebin’s parents who live in Rizhao City, Shandong Province, were arrested on May 12, 2023, during a coordinated police operation during which about 70 local practitioners were arrested.
Mr. Ding Lebin has worked hard to garner more public support worldwide since then. He initiated a mail-in marathon, to send protest letters to the Chinese ambassador to Germany, Wu Ken, and the current secretary of the Rizhao Municipal Party Committee, Li Zaiwu. Thanks to swift international support, his mother was released on May 24 (but remains under surveillance).
International Support
Mr. Ding Lebin has received support from members of the German Parliament, members of the European Parliament, and members of the Berlin State Assembly. City councilors from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Japan have written to the Chinese Ambassador of Germany, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of his father Mr. Ding Yuande.
The event on September 23 was held during the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award ceremony. During the ceremony, the mayor of Nuremberg delivered a speech welcoming activists from all over the world who are committed to defending human rights.
Media in Multiple Countries Reported the CCP’s Large-scale Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in Rizhao City
Two days before the practitioners’ event, the German Press Agency reported on the opening of the Nuremberg Human Rights Research Center in Nuremberg, the Nuremberg International Human Rights Award ceremony, and Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Ding Yuande’s unlawful detention in China. In the past two months media from Austria, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Greece have reported on the CCP’s large-scale persecution of practitioners in Rizhao City.
