(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Gao Hongjie, a former teacher in Weifang College, was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan by the Anqiu City Court in November 2022. No one has heard from him since January 10, 2023.
Five practitioners including Yao Hanlin were recently arrested by police. They are detained in the Gejiu City Detention Center.
Ms. Li Shufen, 71, was arrested at her home in the Chuanying District at 7 p.m. on July 12, 2022. The police ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, laptop, and media player. Ms. Li was detained in the police station for 24 hours and was released on bail pending trial. She was constantly harassed by local police officers after her release. She had to leave home and stay with her daughter who lives far away in Guangzhou City.
Ms. Li Kangning was arrested by officers including Cai Jihai from the Balitai Police Station in the Nankai District on July 21, 2022. Her home was ransacked. Because Ms. Li requested that her confiscated personal belongings be returned, she was placed under residential surveillance.
Officer Cai Jihai called Ms. Li on October 1, 2022, and demanded she go to the Bailitai Police Station on October 3 2022. Ms. Li refused.
Officer Yi Jiaju called Ms. Li on October 3, 2022 again and demanded she go to the police station. Ms. Li refused.
Four officers including Zhang Guitong from the Bailitai Police Station came to Ms. Li’s home at 8 a.m. on October 8, 2022. They took her to the police station without showing the summons paper. She was released later that day.
Cai Jihai called Ms. Li again on January 11, 2023, and demanded she go to the police station. Ms. Li requested to see the summons paper which Cai didn’t have. She returned home later that day.
Ms. Wang Xiulan from Qitaihe City went to visit her daughter in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province before the Chinese New Year holiday. She was reported to police for posting two stickers on the street. Officers from the Wangjiang Police Station in Shangcheng District went to her daughter’s home at 8 a.m. on January 8, 2023. They took Ms. Wang and her family members to the police station for interrogation. Ms. Wang was released that evening and has returned to Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province.
Mr. Liu Runlin was imprisoned for eight years and was released on December 30, 2021. When he went to the local police station to renew his residential ID, his request was denied. His is now a “black household” and he has no pension.
Ms. Cao Shuyun from Yi’an County was arrested on August 8, 2016, for posting stickers in a residential community. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts. Ms. Cao was sentenced to four years in prison by the Yi’an County Court on December 30, 2016. She was released in January 2020.
Ms. Wei Wei, around 55, was arrested at home by officers from the Xing County Police Department on September 27, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was released on the evening of September 29, 2022.
Ms. Wei was summoned to the Xing County Police Department on October 20, 2022. She was then taken to the county hospital for isolation and was transferred to the Fangshan County Detention Center on October 26, 2022. Ms. Wei was transferred to the Liang City Detention Center on January 3, 2023 and is still detained there.
