(Minghui.org) A Changchun City, Jilin Province resident serving 8.5 years for practicing Falun Gong has been hospitalized since October 2022. The authorities have refused to release him on medical parole as he refused to renounce his faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Jiang Yong and his parents, who also practice Falun Gong, were arrested at home around 9 p.m. on June 28, 2021. Their Falun Gong books, two tablets and seven cellphones were confiscated.
While Mr. Jiang’s parents were released after ten days of detention, he was kept in custody and sentenced to 8.5 years in Gongzhuling Prison for “subverting state power.”
Mr. Jiang held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The Jilin Provincial Tuberculosis Hospital issued a critical condition notice for him on October 11, 2022. He was later transferred to the Changchun City Police Hospital and is still in serious condition at the time of writing.
Mr. Jiang’s family frequented the Jilin Province Prison Administration Bureau and the prison to demand his release on medical parole, only to be ignored or given the run-around.
