(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Yu Aihua, around 70, was arrested on November 1, 2021, for posting truth-clarifying materials. She was released on November 5, 2021, due to her health and was placed under residential surveillance. Ms. Yu was sentenced to five and a half years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan by the Xiangzhou District Court on December 21, 2022
Ms. Yu was arrested previously on June 2, 2008, and was sentenced to three years in prison by the Xiangzhou District Court. She was arrested again on June 10, 2015, and was sentenced to three years in prison by the Jinwan District Court.
Ms. Hu Jinfeng, 42, is from West Lijiazhuang Village, Yaocun Township, Dingxing County, Baoding County, Hebei Province. She was arrested by officers from the Gaoliying Police Station in the Shunyi District in Beijing on July 27, 2022, and has been held in the Shunyi District Detention Center since then. Zhang Lei from the Changping District of Beijing, Ms. Hu’s brother-in-law, was arrested the same day. He was held in the Changping District Detention Center and was released on bail pending trial on September 2, 2022.
During her detention, Ms. Hu was handcuffed behind her back and was interrogated for eight days. Her case was submitted to the Shunyi District Procuratorate. In early December 2022, her case was temporarily withdrawn from the procuratorate for additional investigation. The police have continued to work on her case.
To avoid persecution, Ms. Hu left home years ago and moved frequently. She was arrested many times. She was subjected to forced labor after she was arrested on May 13, 2005, and was detained in the Baoding Forced Labor Camp. She was tied to a bed for days and force-fed in the labor camp.
Ms. Gou Xinhua from Qile Town was arrested at her mother’s home in the early morning hours of December 19, 2020, while she was taking care of her paralyzed mother. The police ransacked her mother’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials, computer, printer, etc. They also ransacked Ms. Gou’s home later that day. More than 20 practitioners in Danleng County including Ms. Gou Xinhua, Su Zhijun, Zhang Yulan, and Lan Shangqing, were harassed or arrested that day.
Ms. Gou was interrogated in the Danleng County Police Department for two days and one night. She was then taken to a remote location where Falun Gong practitioners were detained. She was monitored by a few people from her hometown including Wu Changqing, a Qile Town government official. She was interrogated by Chen Yue, head of the Crime Investigation Division of Qile County Police Department, and other officers. Ms. Gou was released after she signed the three statements against her will. She was repeatedly harassed after she was released.
Ms. Han Lihua, 71, was tried in the Ranghulu District Court on August 2, 2022. The trial ended without a verdict. Her family member was informed on December 29, 2022 that the judgment would be delivered to them soon. Ms. Han was denied admission by the detention center due to her high blood pressure and has been at home since November 2022.
Mr. Liu Hongji was arrested by officers from the Yanghu Township Police Station in 2020 for distributing information about Falun Gong. It was recently learned that he was sentenced to jail but the details are unknown.
Ms. Liu Yu’e was arrested by Chengzhong Police Station officers on the morning of October 13, 2022, when she talked to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Huaihua Detention House that afternoon. It was recently learned that she was transferred to the Huaihua City Detention Center.
Ms. Wei Qingzhen was arrested on the morning of December 6, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. It is unknown where she is detained.
Ms. Huang, over 80, was arrested at her home on the afternoon of December 6, 2022, by Huang Yajun, head of the Fucheng Police Station, and other officers. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials, computer, thousands of paper bills with facts about Falun Gong printed on them, and other personal belongings. Ms. Huang was interrogated in the police station and released that evening.
Mr. Gao Daorui was arrested by Zhongyuan Police Station officers in October 2022. He was detained for three days in the police station and 17 days in the city detention house. He was released on bail pending trial.
Mr. Zhao Guojiang was arrested in mid-October 2022. The details are unknown.
Zhang Jun, a teacher at No.123 Middle School, was arrested on July 15, 2021, and sentenced to one and a half years in prison. Zhang has been held in the Jinzhou Detention Center and will be released on January 15, 2023.
