(Minghui.org) One year after Ms. Wang Kezhen was released from prison for practicing Falun Gong, the Hefei City, Anhui Province, woman was arrested again for her faith. She is now facing prosecution after the police recently submitted her case to the procuratorate.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Wang, 58, was helping to care for a local practitioner Ms. Zhang Ping after the latter injured herself in a fall. When Ms. Wang was about to leave to go home on the evening of August 3, 2022, the police broke into Ms. Zhang’s place and arrested Ms. Wang. She was released on bail the next day.

In November 2022, Sanlijie Police Station officers submitted her case to the procuratorate, accusing her of being reported several times for talking to people about Falun Gong. Deputy police chief Xu Hailin and officer Zheng Sipu are responsible for her case.

Past Persecution

Ms. Wang started to practice Falun Gong on May 19, 1998. Her diabetes insipidus (a rare disorder that causes increased thirst and frequent urination) soon disappeared. Since the onset of the persecution, she has been repeatedly arrested and twice sentenced to a total of six years.

She went to Beijing in November 1999 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong and was arrested. She was held in the Feidong Detention Center for 13 days after being taken back to Anhui.

Ms. Wang returned to Beijing to appeal again in March 2000. She was arrested a second time and taken to the Feidong Detention Center. During her seven-week detention, she was beaten for doing the Falun Gong exercises, shocked with electric batons, and forced to kneel. She held a hunger strike to protest and was later released.

Ms. Wang went to Beijing to appeal for a third time in September 2000. She was arrested on Tiananmen Square and taken back to Hefei. This time, she was held in a brainwashing center for over 40 days and subjected to constant beatings and verbal abuse.

Ms. Wang was arrested again on June 30, 2001, for putting up posters about Falun Gong. She escaped from the police station after two days and was forced to live away from home to hide from the police. She went to Beijing on September 22 to appeal for the fourth time and was arrested. She refused to reveal her name and held a hunger strike in the Shunyi Detention Center in Beijing. The guards released her a week later when she was on the verge of death.

Ms. Wang was reported in August 2005 when she went home to visit her child. The police got into her home by climbing through a window on the third floor. She managed to escape.

Ms. Wang’s next arrest was on June 13, 2010, for handing Falun Gong materials to other practitioners. She was sentenced to five years. Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, the guards tortured her.

Ms. Wang was arrested again on February 16, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was released on February 22.

Four months later on June 6, she was arrested with seven other practitioners while they were studying the Falun Gong teachings together. She was detained for eight days and released from Hefei Detention Center on June 14.

While visiting an elderly practitioner, Ms. Wang was arrested yet again on September 3, 2020, and sentenced to one year in prison. When her term expired, the Political and Legal Affairs Committee arranged for her to be taken to a brainwashing center.
