(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao Hongyan Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Zhao Hongyan, from Jiaohe City, was arrested and detained on September 14, 2021, because she talked to people about Falun Gong. She was officially placed under arrest twelve days later. Ms. Zhao was released on bail after suffering a severe heart attack in the detention center.

In early July 2022, officers from the Minzhu Street Police Station went to Ms. Zhao’s home and informed her that she had been sentenced to three years. They then took her to the hospital for a medical examination preparing to send her to jail. The test showed that she had severe heart failure, so she was released.

Ms. Zhao has submitted an appeal. The Jilin City Intermediate Court told her on August 10 to go to the court to finish the paperwork for her bail on August 18, 2022.

2. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liao Xiaoping Taken to Prison

Ms. Liao Xiaoping, 65, was taken to the Baiyun Women’s Prison in Guangdong Province in July 2022. Her family received the notice after she was sent away.

3. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Qu Xing Faces Court Hearing

The trial against Mr. Qu Xing which was scheduled on July 13, 2022, was rescheduled to August 31, 2022, at the Gaoxing District Court.

4. [Xifeng City, Gansu Province] Ms. Wang Shuping Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuping, 46 or 47, was arrested on August 7, 2022. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

5. [Beijing] Ms. Li Yuehong and Ms. Kong Mei Harassed

Ms. Li Yuehong was a former employee of the Beijing Aviation Materials. She was forced to quit her job because she didn’t give up her faith in Falun Gong. Ms. Li and Ms. Kong Mei, a retired employee of an artificial joint factory, were harassed by officers from the local police station on August 18, 2022.

The police first went to Ms. Li’s house and violently knocked on the front door, then the back door, and then went to Ms. Kong’s house. The two practitioners had to stay away from home to avoid further harassment.

6. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Yujie Harassed

Officers from the Chengjiao Police Station went to Ms. Zhang Yujie’s home on July 13, 2022, and harassed her. They photographed her and pressured her to sign some paperwork.

Ms. Zhang’s husband, who is paralyzed and bedridden, was frightened. Ms. Zhang was sentenced to three years in prison because she practiced Falun Gong.

7. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Yang Xuewen Harassed Repeatedly

Officers from the Wuzhan Police Station in Zhaodong City went to Mr. Yang Xuewen’s home and harassed him in May 2022.

Two weeks later, the head of the police station led Wang Lijun from the Zhaodong 610 Office and six or seven police officers to Mr. Yang’s home again. They searched the place inside and out and confiscated his Falun Gong books, audio players, and personal items printed with Falun Gong messages. They then ripped off the good fortune paintings from the door.

In July, three officers went to his home and harassed him again.

8. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Wang Xiuzhi Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiuzhi, a retired teacher, went to the Bairin train station to take a train home on July 11, 2022.

She was arrested because she talked to people about Falun Gong while waiting for her train. Ms. Wang was held in the Bairin Detention Center.

9. [Tianjin] Ms. Liu Jinfeng and Ms. Zhang Arrested

Officers from the Quanxing Road Police Station, Yangcun Town, Wuqing District, broke into the home of Ms. Liu Jinfeng’s daughter on August 17, 2022. They took Ms. Liu from there and confiscated her Falun Gong books and computer.

Ms. Zhang, first name unknown, was arrested the same day because she talked to people about Falun Gong with Ms. Liu. Her home was ransacked.

Their family members were forced to pay $5,000 each in bail. They returned home at midnight.

10. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Meifang Harassed

Zhao Yongjun, secretary of Dongzhao Village in Renzhao Town, called Ms. Wang Meifang’s husband on August 22, 2022, and said that someone from the province wanted to see her.

Afterwards, Zhao Yongjun led an officer from the Renzhao Town Police Station and two provincial officers to Ms. Wang’s workplace and harassed her.

They pressured her to sign the paperwork, which she refused. They then photographed her.

11. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Bi Guiying Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Bi Guiying was sentenced to one year and six months by the Zhen’an Court at the second court hearing on August 17, 2022.

Ms. Bi appealed not guilty and plans to file an appeal.

12. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Ma Fengliang and his Wife, Ms. Yang Chunfang Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Ma Fengliang, 52, from Xiaochengzi Village, Halahada Town, Bairin, was sentenced to 8 years in prison by a court in Jiangsu Province and sent to the 11th ward of the Hongzehu County Prison in March 2018. His wife, Ms. Yang Chunfang, 50, was sentenced to 6 years in 2021 by a court in Jiaozhou city, Shandong Province.

13. [Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Lin Yufen Harassed

Ms. Lin Yufen, from the Tongzheng district, was arrested on August 16, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was forced to sign a statement. Otherwise, she would be taken to a brainwashing center. She returned home at 3:00 pm.

14. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Ms. Mo Liqiong Held Court Hearing the Third Time

The Xiangtan City Intermediate Court scheduled the third court hearing against Ms. Mo Liqiong on August 23, 2022. The prosecutor was the Xiangtan City Procuratorate.
