Don’t Take Writing Solemn Statements as a Means to Exonerate Wrongdoers from Crimes Against Dafa

Aug. 21, 2022 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

(Minghui.org) Recently there was an article on Minghui.org about a practitioner in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province who was arrested four times for his faith. The practitioner gave in under pressure and told on other practitioners each time. After he was released each time, he wrote a solemn statement to nullify what he said or did while in custody that did not conform to the Fa. But instead of doing better the next time, he kept ratting out other practitioners after he was arrested again. Upon his release, he would write yet another solemn statement to void what he did in custody.

This led me to think that some practitioners probably didn’t take writing solemn statements as a serious matter, but treated it as a simple means to exonerate themselves from the crimes they committed for betraying Dafa and other practitioners. They may think that after writing the solemn statement, their mistakes or sins against Dafa would be wiped away and they wouldn’t be held accountable for their actions. It seems that it never crossed their minds that they should make up for the losses they caused.

Because of that mentality, some practitioners easily compromised with the evil after being arrested, thinking that they would be alright by writing a solemn statement upon returning home. But the evil in the other dimension sees our attachments clearly. With such big loopholes, many of these practitioners were repeatedly persecuted as a result.

Master said,

“If you fail the test the first time, the next one is going to be harder. But if you feel sincere regret when you wake up after failing the test the first time, it might leave a deeper impression in your mind and increase the likelihood that you will exercise self-control next time and pass the test. Anyone who isn’t concerned after failing the test will have a much harder time exercising control with future tests, for sure.” (The Sixth Talk, Zhuan Falun)

For practitioners who have stumbled in their cultivation, they should thoroughly expose the persecution, fully examine their attachments and try their best to make up for the losses they’ve caused. It’s a difficult step to take, but they can do it with strong faith in Dafa. And only then can their souls be truly freed from the control of the old forces.
