(Minghui.org) A Hefei City, Anhui Province resident was recently released after eight months of incarceration at a brainwashing center for practicing Falun Gong. Prior to her latest arrest, she was subjected to more than one year of harassment and surveillance.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yin Hong’s ordeal dated back to September 7, 2020, when Li Song, the deputy chief of Xinglin Police Station, showed up at her home at 7: 30 p.m. with two plainclothes officers. Li deceived her into opening the door by claiming that he lived downstairs and water was leaking from her apartment into his.
As soon as the officers stepped into Ms. Yin’s home, they took photos around. Li briefly showed her his police ID, but no arrest or search warrant. When Ms. Yin tried to stop them from taking photos, one officer handcuffed her behind her back and continued the raid. Her Falun Gong books, informational materials, printer, two computers, three cellphones, two MP3 players, a radio, paper cutter and other printing supplies were confiscated. No official list of confiscated items was given to her.
Ms. Yin urged the police not to participate in the persecution, but they wouldn’t listen. An hour later, three more officers came, including Dong Yongsheng, the head of Xinglin Police Station.
Ms. Yin was taken to the Xinglin Police Station at around 9:30 p.m. and held there overnight. The police took her to the hospital for a physical checkup the next morning and brought her back to the police station for interrogation at night. She refused to answer any questions. While the police released her hours later on one-year bail, they didn’t give her any paperwork. During the entire day she was detained, the police didn’t provide her with any food or water.
The police and residential committee staff members kept coming to harass her. They also installed surveillance camera in the hallway of her apartment building and arranged officers to follow her when she went out.
Hu Guoliang, an agent of the 610 Office, and seven other officers came to Ms. Yin’s home on November 6, 2021 and ordered her to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong. As she refused to comply, they came again on November 11, but still couldn’t force her to give in.
Hu returned for the third time at 8 p.m. on November 17 with more than ten officers. They pried open her door and took her to a local brainwashing center, where she was held for the next eight months.
