(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 15 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Jia Jianhuai has been detained for nearly eight months. He was scheduled to be tried at 9:00 a.m. on May 13, 2022.
Ms. Wang Jinghui fromo the Yuhong District distributed Falun Gong flyers in a gated community on February 7, 2022. Security guards stopped her at the entrance. The police came and arrested her and took her to the Beiling Police Station.
She was held in the police station for six days, which exceeded the time allowed by law. She was then taken to the Shenbeixinqu Detention Center, a male detention center, around February 20. No women’s clothes or daily essentials were available. Inmates only have cold tap water. She was held there for 46 days and lost over 20 pounds.
She was recently transferred to the Shenyang City No.1 Detention Center.
Ms. Sun Zhifang from the Balin Left Banner was arrested in Ms. Ji Yunzhi’s home by officers from the Balin Left Banner Political and Security Division right after she and Ms. Ji finished breakfast on the morning of February 1, 2022, Chinese New Year’s Day.
She was held in a detention center. She started a five-day hunger strike to protest the arrest. The guards refused to let her use the bathroom so she dared not eat. Warden Gao Yonggang threatened her, “Do you want to be like her (Ms. Ji Yunzhi) being fed through her nose?” Gao had two guards handcuff her and hold her on a bench, one on each side, during interrogations.
Inmate head Song Changying, instigated by the guards, threatened her, saying, “I will make you bald tomorrow.” The next day, two guards grabbed her and sat her on a chair. Song cut off all her hair.
She was repeatedly interrogated by Xu Jianfeng, head of the political and security division, and officers from the division. They tried to force her to tell them her family members’ addresses and information.
Ms. Xiao Suhua was harassed at home by clerks from the Zhonglingsi Residential Committee and officers from the Domestic Security Division around 3:00 p.m. on April 28, 2022. The officers said that, if she only practiced at home and signed documents renouncing Falun Gong, they would remove her name from the police department’s list and wouldn’t bother her any more. She refused to sign. They photographed her against her will and left.
Ms. Zhang Yumei has been repeatedly persecuted for practicing Falun Gong. She was sentenced twice, to three years and four years in prison. On April 18, 2022, just six months after she was last released from prison, she was arrested at work by officers from the Zaoyang City Domestic Security Division and the Xifangcheng Police Station. She was taken to the police station while her son in primary school was waiting for her to pick him up from school. She was released on bail.
Her home was ransacked. Her husband could no longer bear the persecution that he endured as a practitioner’s spouse. He filed for divorce after her latest arrest. She can no longer return home.
Mr. Xie Changchun, in his 70s, was arrested for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong by Guanghan Domestic Security Division officers around 10:00 a.m. on April 27, 2022. He was taken to the Xiangyang Town Police Station. Six officers from the Domestic Security Division went to his home after 12:00 p.m., ransacked the place and seized a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, dozens of Falun Gong books, a cell phone, cash worth 200 yuan, and other items. He was released in the afternoon.
Liu Tingfeng, 70s, gender unknown, distributed Falun Gong flyers and handed one to an officer from the Domestic Security Division around 10:00 a.m. on April 27, 2022. The incident was photographed by the police.
Six or seven Domestic Security Division officers knocked on Liu’s door after 12:00 p.m. The Liu Tingfeng couple did not answer. The officers called their son and had him open the door. The officers went in and seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, a Falun emblem, Falun Gong books, two music player, Falun Gong materials, and other items.
Ms. Du Guiqin was arrested at home by officer Xu Yong and others from the Chaoyang Police Department at noon on April 27, 2022. They seized two copies of Zhuan Falun, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, several copies of the founder’s recent teachings, and a Falun emblem. They took her to a police station and gave her a 14-day detention for practicing Falun Gong at home. At her detention center entry physical exam, she had high blood pressure. She could not be admitted to any detention center. She was released after 3:00 a.m. the next day.
Ms. Zhu Feizhen was arrested at home after 11:00 a.m on April 20, 2022. Xu Chengjun, head of Chongren County Domestic Security Division; Wu, director of the Hangbu Police Station; and another officer went to her home and claimed the security system recorded her talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Without a search warrant, they ransacked her home and seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, two Falun Gong exercise music players, two cell phones, 850 yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong messages printed on them, and other items. The officers beat and drove out a practitioner who came to visit her.
They videotaped Ms. Zhu, handcuffed her, and took her to the county police department for interrogation. She was given a detention center entry physical exam in the evening. She was held in the Hangbu Police Station at night. Officers forced her to sign a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong.
She was released after her family bailed her out. Her daughter, a college graduate, was illegally fired from her job. As a result of long-term persecution, she does not have a steady income. Now her daughter has lost her job.
Ms. He Xiuling, 64, of Pengzhaozhuang Village, Shenze County, was arrested by officers from the Police Special Patrol Division, led by chief Jia Jianhong, on the evening of January 10, 2022, when she was about to leave work after her night shift. They took her to the division, searched her, got her house key, went to her home, and ransacked it. They seized her Falun Gong books, MP3 player, notebook computer, and other items.
An officer handcuffed her, gave her a criminal detention notification, and said, “If you do not cooperate, you will get a heavy sentence.” Her head began to hurt. After 7:00 a.m., she asked to see Jia Jianhong. She told him her head felt like it had exploded and she was in extreme pain. Jia removed her handcuffs.
On the morning of January 12, officers handcuffed her and took her to the Shenze County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for a COVID-19 vaccination. They took her to the Shijiazhuang People’s Hospital and subjected her to a detention center entry physical exam. They then drove her to the Shijiazhuang Detention Center, where guards refused to admit her because her blood pressure was too high. They went back to the Shijiazhuang People’s Hospital to re-check her blood pressure. It was still high. They called the committee members from her village and her family and ordered them to come to Shijiazhaung and take her home. Her family did.
Mr. Weng Qingzhong was arrested in September 2019. He was released two years later on January 12, 2022. His daughter was forced to sign his release on bail document in the court. She was told that if she did not sign, Mr. Weng would be detained indefinitely.
Mr. Fang Weixiong was arrested at the same time as Mr. Weng. He has since been detained. The details are unknown.
Ms. Xu Xiaoyan and Ms. Zhang Xiuqin of Daqing No. 9 Oil Extraction Factory were arrested on the afternoon of April 27, 2022, after someone reported them for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were taken to the Honggang Police Department. Their homes were ransacked. Officers took a media player and multiple Falun Gong flyers from Ms. Yu’s place and seized many items from Ms. Zhang’s home. The women were given a year of “release on bail” and fined 5,000 yuan each. They were released after 12:00 a.m.
The home of Ms. Zhang Yu’e in the Tianhe area was ransacked by three officers from the Jishu Police Station after 6:00 a.m. on April 26, 2022. Afterwards, her husband was forced to take the officers to their other home in the Jifeng Community. The officers ransacked the place and seized her Falun Gong books.
