(Minghui.org) Arrested on December 10, 2021, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, a 78-year-old Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province resident was recently sentenced to three years. More details about Mr. Hu Deyuan’s most recent arrest and sentencing aren’t clear.
Since the Chinese communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline also known as Falun Dafa, in 1999, Mr. Hu, a former security guard of Yingtan Railroad Bureau, has been sentenced twice for upholding his faith.
Mr. Hu was previously arrested on June 28, 2008. He appeared in the Yuehu District Court on November 11 and wasn’t allowed to read his prepared defense script. Prosecutor Fu Yan introduced as prosecution evidence a letter Mr. Hu wrote to the police, urging them not to persecute Falun Gong, while he was detained. The judge later sentenced him to 8 years.
Mr. Hu was arrested again at home on March 9, 2017. His computer, printer, photocopier, and Falun Gong flyers were confiscated. The police accused him of putting up posters about Falun Gong.
Mr. Hu was tried by the Yuehu District Court on June 7. The court didn’t inform his family of the session until the early morning on the hearing day. The judge said to his family that he intended to sentence him to 3.5 to 7 years with 10,000 yuan fine. If they paid the fine in time, he could just sentence him to 3.5 years.
Eager for their loved one to be released sooner, Mr. Hu’s family paid the fine as required, yet the judge refused to provide a receipt. Mr. Hu was later given 3.5 years and his pension was also suspended.
