(Minghui.org) After serving five years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999, Ms. Liang Yunying was released on February 17, 2021.
Ms. Liang, a 75-year-old Nanyang City, Henan province resident, worked at the Nanyang Oilfield Refinery. Before taking up Falun Gong in 1996, she suffered hepatitis B, a heart condition, and stomach bloating. Her symptoms disappeared one month into her practice.
Ms. Liang saw an elderly man sitting in a community center on February 17, 2016, holding a Falun Gong booklet in his hand. When she went to talk to him, he grabbed her hand and said, “I finally found you.” Some of her hair was pulled off by the man and two buttons on her clothes were also pulled off.
Some bystanders condemned the man’s action. But it didn’t stop him from calling the police.
The police soon came and took Ms. Liang to the Nanyang Detention Center, where she was beaten and verbally abused by guard Lu Shasha.
Ms. Liang was sentenced to a five-year prison term by the Nanyang City Court in August 2016. She was taken to the Xinxiang Women’s Prison on June 1, 2017.
In the prison, Ms. Liang was subjected to intensive brainwashing. She was once forced to stand for over four hours without being allowed to use the restroom. She was also tied up on a tiger bench torture device for over ten hours, and held in solitary confinement for a month. A guard named Ma Ke shocked her with an electric baton and caused her stomach to bruise. Another guard, Cui Yu, ordered the inmates to cover Ms. Liang’s head with a helmet, tie her hands around her waist, and spread ground red pepper onto her face.
